Sunday Shenanigans

Just back from a week exploring Northumberland with the wife.
Left my work phone with my sister and managed to mostly turn off work in my brain for the week.
Not been to that corner of the country before . Very impressed and hope to return. Weather was kind (mostly) and managed to keep fairly active with 3 decent bike rides/3 hikes and 2 ParkRuns.
Van averaged 28.5mpg over 1083 miles with average speed of 55.5mph

Looks a nice place to live, but very rural (apart from the bits that aren’t) and not much construction going on , so not a lot of work I should imagine.
Better roads and less people than Devon .

I like Bleak! Dartmoor is nice and glad to have it but the rest of Devon is overcrowded and getting ruined imo. South Devon is particularly bad probably better up @Stroppymonkey way.

First and Last marathon of 2025. Piss awful weather .

Did see a proper tractor on way home 🥰
Now that is respectable time for a demanding Marathon ( I also use Strava) 😎
Have done many marathons when I was younger. Now do anything up to HM....

Image.jpg

This was me yesterday competing in the local 5m road race with other Harwich Runner team mates ☺️

And do Parkruns most Saturdays. Now done 215 Parkruns and run local races up to HM 😎
Mind you always do other Parkruns in the UK when we are out and about touring with our caravan.
And even SWMBO does the Parkwalk for the 5KYW Move Against Cancer...

Next week sees the start of the XC Season. First of the league is at Ipswich
and so looking forward to getting out there in the mud 😂

Great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning 😊

Trying to get in some hours on this bike to get to know it before trying something a bit adventurous.

Its amazing what you find when get off the roads and onto the tracks, this spot is only about 10k from home, worked all around it but never seen it or knew it existed.

Shame these are getting demolished, belong to EDF - presumably for workers on the local hydro dam back when.it took more manning, ,they have been empty at least 20y that I know but structurally look sound 🤔 they are a row of 4 identical, the others look to be safe for now.

Lovely afternoon in the sun but cold out of it !
Heated grips on the to-do list.

dip tube in the propane bottle is L shaped and goes to the bottom of the cylinder, allowing it to be used vertically or horizontally according to the marking on the side of the bottle to orientate it correctly to put the dip tip at the lowest point inside the cylinder
I like to put mine in sideways.. gives you a tiny bit of warning then , you can turn it to 6oclock to get you going again for a bit
