What do you reckon to these, I've always fancied 1. How much power would I need. I run my hobby welder ok in my shed, the welder I was bought for a present in my teens😆

go and buy it - NOW!!
got a picture of the amperage ranges?
think it's only the baby Oxford, but still good
lovely reliable welding set
the dissimilar rods are worth the asking almost and you're barely paying for the fincords

That's the 1 picture
OK - if it's the 140A set, burning 2.5 / 3.25 rods - yes, no sweat - if you want to run a 4mm ... put a bit of 6mm bar, 'bout an inch long, in the plug in place of the fuse :giggle: ... it'll warm up a bit, but you'd need to be welding for hours to get it to melt the plug ..... see it has a 16A plug already on it, so'd guess it's been run off a 32A ring - just make an adaptor lead with a mod.ed 13A plug for now, if you don't have a 16A outlet in yer shed ;):giggle:(y)

Might find he didn't need it after all 🫣
well I've had 3 hrs+ sat/kneeling on that grid this afternoon, MIG-ing the tie bars on and I do not feel like the energiser bunny this evening :ROFLMAO:

got the rest of the X bars dropped in and 'attached' this afters

WP_20251012_15_36_58_Pro.jpg

managed to drop one on the third finger tip of me right hand - changed tack on the temp. support method to underside supports and landed a bugger on me digit ... 's bloody throbbing tonight - they'm a fair-ish weight to just pick up :(
WP_20251012_15_37_11_Pro.jpg

then set out and dropped the tie bars into place
WP_20251012_16_11_08_Pro.jpg

got 'em clamped in place

WP_20251012_16_11_24_Pro.jpg
WP_20251012_16_11_34_Pro.jpg

'fore getting 'em stitched in place and then, as said above, spent hours randomly securing them, trying to keep the heat concentrations down to a minimum

and then it was time to eat - again ... stayed nice and flat with all the effort of randomly jumping about to weld it all up and spread the 'hot spots' about - be like a banana if you just ran down the lengths :(
been a grey old day, again very calm/still, but we did have a light breeze start to come up about five and was expecting to have some issues with the shield gas. -- got away with it though :giggle:(y)
if the weather's suitable tomorrow, I'll flip this over for the top edges and then stand it on its sides/ends, firmly clamped to the bench for some more random weld up on the end plates ... then it's job did and time for the next bit :( get the old one out - can't see any signs of fixing, but have a sneaky feeling it's got a couple of rags into the concrete edges of the pit across the roadway -- rest of it is jumping about as anything crosses it ---- we shall have to see ??:unsure:

The old geezer wouldn't budge on price, he was retiring his blacksmith hobby. Lots of old gear, vices, anvils drills etc.
Got my mate a pipe vice for his jetter to change nozles
