What model is your router?
If it's 10 years old, it'll have 100mb ports, which (as you say) will limit your speeds
Nah, it's got gig ports but if I connect to its WiFi I get even worse speed than via my ubiquiti mesh. Supposedly has 400-500mb throughput but I have gig fibre so...

CNC gear will have superseded these old girls in general production environment - have seen them make big money over the years they're accurate to less than a tenth of a thou.
The ultimate drilling machine fully variable 60 to 2250 rpm at the push of a button and has a tump of tooling with it  .. I'm struggling :giggle: .. 's a good job it weighs 1750kgs plus tooling

so got a bit of time late this afters to have a.n.other go at me chuck/lathe loading device ..... and realised I'd dropped a bollock ... should've opened the second box door when i was measuring up :(:censored:
hadn't noticed / realised that the door head was an inch lower than I'd measured it up, against the side of the box ... and i'd been aiming for maximum height on the swing arm ..... so had to make a third piece to drop it that inch and gave it an extra 1" for good measure

WP_20250829_19_03_05_Pro.jpg
WP_20250829_19_04_32_Pro.jpg

had to deal with the light I'd slung up over the Harrison sooome time ago and temporarily re-positioned it for now - and its cable
WP_20250829_19_05_11_Pro.jpg
WP_20250829_19_07_04_Pro.jpg

one number pull lift to see how it dropped - plenty

WP_20250829_19_33_53_Pro.jpg

and articulates nicely over the chuck and the bed length for anything chunky I might want to sling in the chuck

WP_20250829_19_17_45_Pro.jpg
WP_20250829_19_33_26_Pro.jpg

plus it all folds away against the wall nicely -- after I'd shifted the light down a foot or so -- gonna have to re-position it though - was only ever a pro tem. thing and need to get it sorted properly
WP_20250829_19_32_56_Pro.jpg
has a good reach outside ......and a bonus of the extra 'link' is it'll swing out past a closed door too

WP_20250829_19_37_08_Pro.jpg

pushed for time today, but it'll have to come back down for a coat of shiny tish and need to sort out a better 'job' for the lighting .. solid as a rock with me hanging on it - 's gonna make life so much easier for chuck changes - just got to knock out a chuck hook too and the jobs a good un (y)
could possibly have scaled it down a little, but I know I ain't gonna break it or have it drop anything on the lathe's bed:oops:

did anyone else have issues with incredibly slow loading here late last night? Kevin @Furniss 's snake pix took forever to load - wondered just how big a file they were - 'net speed check was showing 20+mb ?:unsure:

well I did start to create a chuck hook late this morning ....

and then it absolutely lashed it down  ........ 'til we had a bit of a reprieve for 10 minutes about 6.30 .... and as it was blowing like ferk form the S. west I considered it an idal moment to dispose of the latest binful of garden crud and a couple of bagfuls of unwanted packaging / misc. crud.
went well too with the breeze aiding it nicely

in between the showers - got 'kin soaked earlier down the village, stood talking to Rio - sat in his truck

I cracked on with yesterday's bits and got this together..
although it looks 'cock-eyed' in the pic., the top/bottom are perfectly parallel .................................................................................................and in position for a trial ;)
WP_20250831_14_57_59_Pro.jpg
WP_20250831_15_00_55_Pro.jpg

undid 5 of the 6 camlocks, then tightened the chuck onto the spigot, 'fore letting go of the sixth lock
WP_20250831_15_03_07_Pro.jpg

and off came the 3 jaw, which I can manage by hand, if I stand on the suds tray to get it at waste level ... dropped it on the floor and hung the new 4 jaw on the hook
WP_20250831_15_08_43_Pro.jpg

I can just about get this off the deck - pushing a good 70 kilos - no way can I get it up to the bed let alone 'carefully' attach it to the spindle nose on the Harrison
WP_20250831_15_09_45_Pro.jpg

POP with the new 'toy' .... and a lovely chuck
WP_20250831_15_11_35_Pro.jpg

back off and heading for the floor
WP_20250831_15_16_01_Pro.jpg

then try the faceplate which is barely manageable to get up to chest height ... no jaws on this so to make certain it doesn't slip off/escape .. we have a removable end plate - slugs from the broaches come in real handy for little discs (y)
WP_20250831_15_21_03_Pro.jpg
WP_20250831_15_21_08_Pro.jpg

and onto the spindle nose
WP_20250831_15_23_53_Pro.jpg
can get it on so far to catch it, then drop the hook out, as the end plate interferes with it sitting home on the nose fully
WP_20250831_15_22_46_Pro.jpg

might make this its own specific lift bracket that I can bolt to one of the capture tappings, but the end plate does work perfectly well and the balance is perfect on the hook
finally I tried hanging a sling on the gantry, as the pull lift is a tad high in the air for operating without a stretch up (which usually pees my spleen off, doing things above my head) - see if I can't make it a dedicated drop chain - plenty of bits about to create something with (or keep my eyes peeled for a nice little leccy (or even air) hoist to sub. in the pull lift's place
and the 3 jaw goes back on ready for my tool post work
WP_20250831_15_34_34_Pro.jpg

gantry seems perfectly happy, even with the 4 jaw and me hung on it - bit of deflection, obviously but it's nothing horrendous - think a lighter structure could've had 'issues'

sure will make chuck changes a POP and installing anything lumpy in the lathe
installation of the new tool post next ..
found some additional tool holders on FBMP Thursday night, for a quarter of new cost ..
msgd the guy and would've gone and got them (with a couple of other 'interesting bits, he's listed), if he'd only respond to my messages ..
gonna be p*ssed if they've gone before I get a chance at them - local-ish too :giggle:- - @6feetdown 's turf  - which is local enough for me (y)

upside is they're too big for most ppl's 'in the garage, hobby lathe', so'll hopefully not attract much attention, cheap though they are, they'll only fit a T3 QCTP, which is a lump
some of his other stuff went PDQ, sadly

as I said the other night about buses coming along in numbers....
found this on FB last night ... D1-8 camlok chuck (which admittedly needs a dammed good clean), MT7 to MT5 spindle sleeve  (VERY hard to find) and a few nice bits with it -- would've had a carrier there in the morning, back in June :censored:
1756664312325.png
1756664338830.png

asked the guy if he'd flog the spindle sleeve separately -- and he's already sold it :cry:

thanks Boyo ... I need to take my tool post with me to make sure they're the right fit, but certainly look it from his p*ss poor pix ... hopefully he's just away and not replying to FB msgs. ... got a couple of other items too that'll not be hugely interesting to a lot of folk (but are to me) with luck he'll be up for a bit of a deal ;):giggle:
