If you can join the army at 16 and potentially fight and kill for your country why not vote for it, why should the politics be dictated by a load of 60+ ppl only caring about their triple lock pension and being scared of ppl of a different colour?

True, But ask yourself how many people at the age of 16 Actually leave school and join the army not many. It was'nt that long ago that people were up in arms at the suggestion of 16-17 year olds doing a kind of national service! Those people in their 60's & 70's have a right to care about their pensions. They worked hard for all of their life on lower wages than people receive today and also scimped and scraped throughout their early years, My father worked all of the hours god sent to earn money and provide a home and security for his family, A lot more that a fair few people do nowadays as its all too easy to sponge of the state, They can even ponce a motorbilty car nowadays its a disgrace!

That’s not fair, I don’t think Diane Abbott, David Lammy and Sadiq Khan are quite that old.

No one’s saying they can’t vote just saying everyone who’s effected gets a say

You’re 16 you’ve gonna be 21 when you next get a say or 18 you’re gonna be 23 etc will have an affect on you and your issues will be much more relevant than the older generation

See what an absolute cluster feck Brexit has been for our economy and the infliction of that on the young by a majority older voting population

Will have a lot more impact on the young than the pensioners

Brexit has barely happened and looking at the rest of the world as said above it is all very stagnant

When the voting age was lowered from 21 to 18 (about 1970) it was more justifiable because at that time 83% of 18 yr olds were in full time work.
A gimmick for Harold Wilson to win the 1970 election he had called a year earlier than he needed to (he promptly lost). The '73 'Barber boom' was supposed to fix the '75 expected election for incumbent Ted Heath (it faltered as did he)
The age of majority is a complete mess, you cannot now marry until 18, (at least in England) nor buy alcohol (supposedly) as to smoking well some born after a particular date will never be able to do this. You can join the Military at 16 but cannot go to a war zone until aged 18 (the UN going on about 'child soldiers' caused this change) In WW2 the youngest on a ship's company as a volunteer could be 14! Wife thinks only 16 yr olds who are working should have vote, I think 18 about right. So a 16 yr old could not be a child soldier but could be a child voter - work that one out. It was a bone of contention in the USA in the '60s that voting started at 21 but the draft for Nam started at 18 - old enough to kill but not for voting as the song said. I also remember T shirts with Nixon's face on with the caption underneath saying would you buy a used car off this man.
I would not buy a used lawnmower off any politician

They still don't get it do they, Today on the radio they had other politicians who were saying she was being picked on as she is a working class women No no no wrong! People remember her opening her foul mouth calling all Tories Scum and everytime a Tory did something out of line she would be the first to demand their resignation, She denied being with Kier Starmer at a pub up country during lockdown then someone posted a picture of her with Starmer in the pub so she had to admit she was in fact there, Then the bent enqury clears the pair of them for breaking lockdown rules etc, Now she is having everything thrown back at her its all so unfair, There is a saying about stones and Glass Greehouses she has obviously never heard it, She puts a property into trust to avoid paying tax at a later date she then takes money out of the trust (allegedly) to help pay for the Property in Hove the whole thing stinks she as Depty PM and Housing minister should know how it all works and she does she just thought she could get away with it, Of course the enquiry about it all will clear her because it wont be fully independent someone will have been promised something to clear her. All this happening whilst they stitch up middle Britain into paying more and more tax and they stitch the farmers up for inheritance. The whole lot stinks she has to go and Starmer should be following her not too close behind, As usual its a case of "don't do as we do, Do as we say" 1 year in and I am so pi55ed off with them for what they are doing to my country😡

They are all as bad as each other!!! Rupert Lowe seems to be the only one not in it for himself… he’s too honest about his own thoughts which is why he’ll never go further than he is now which is a shame!

Ms Rayner has brought this all on herself for the simple fact of not checking. I client of mine asked my opinion on the matter today. My response was that she has failed on some simple advice I would have given her.
Firstly, dont buy a flat.
Secondly, the optics. I would have asked where the money was coming from that a working class girl has sufficient cash for the deposit and the mortgage. When she then tells me she has used her disabled son’s NHS compensation payment to sell him her share in the house that would have had the response of “REALLY!!!” Optics don’t look good even before you through the stamp duty mess into the pot!!
