No joints crossed but looks interesting.
Hollow for drainage too?Interesting product.
Are the joints level because of the steps along the slope?? I would of thought half units would be available, they dont look like fun to cut on site..
Is the big hole for a dowel?
There is a perf pipe wrapped in geotextile there by the looks of it.We use to put pipe and stone drianage behind retaining wall piped out to storm drainage system to pass building control
Looking to use that in minethought this might make an interesting read for some .....

If I remember correctly you could do up to a metre without a design as such.thought this might make an interesting read for some .....
I want to use sleepers as I need to dig them into the battered banks at either end so will need to cut them to suit. Works out a lot cheaper on the panels, but not calculated it with less steelsActual concrete panels aren’t expensive for what they are - you could have them 20 feet long and use fewer (but bigger) steels.

don't think they'd be up to a retaining role .... more stress free walling, but if there ain't a lot behind 'em they'd make a lovely wallsActual concrete panels aren’t expensive for what they are - you could have them 20 feet long and use fewer (but bigger) steels.
Sounds sensible. I need to drill a test hole first, then I can measure it out and plan it. Sounds like about £1500 for the posts once cut and dipped, and I think about £1000 for the concrete all delivered.. will need to sell somethingwell yer blue ones are gonna need shot blasting and pickling, 'fore the galvanizers'll look at them and they will need to be surgically clean/devoid of paint . 254 x 102 x 23kg/m - pretty flimsy TBH
what's wrong with 203 x 203 x 46kg/m ... concrete sleepers aren't 7" thick on the ends surely ... a good strong section over the length you're talking
available in 6m, 7.5m, 8.5m, 9m, 10m, 11m, 12.2m, 14m, 15.3m 16.8m &18m .. a 7.5m and a 14m, wold give you six -990kgs @circa a grand a tonne - do it once and bitu. coat what's in the concrete and any faces in contact with anything - just leave front faces clean
galv's by the tonne, so will be all of 500 quid ... tell the stock holders you want clean, blue material as it's getting galv.ed .. not the rusty crap at the back of the yard. (and you'll send it back if it ain't up to spec. - you're paying for fresh, clean material)Sounds sensible. I need to drill a test hole first, then I can measure it out and plan it. Sleepers are 7” so should sit in a 203mm happy enough.
Westcountry Concrete are about 1mile from me... 15ft x 5ft x 4" panel about £300+ vat last time I checked. Sleepers are approx 30-40% of the cost of panels based on fag packet maths. Concrete panels would be smarter certainly, but sleepers better for what may be a retaining wall. Plus I cant handle anything bigger than a 15ft panel Thanks for the advice so farJust cut the panels!
They sell seconds near me for £100 a panel (cash) - nothing really wrong with them, sometimes just been made the wrong length for a job.
I would go for one one the local steel suppliers. Surrounded by them here. Think the local dippers are Crediton.galv's by the tonne, so will be all of 500 quid ... tell the stock holders you want clean, blue material as it's getting galv.ed .. not the rusty crap at the back of the yard. I know Dyfed get down your way and there's bound to be other stockholders - getting the beams halved/quartered'll not add a lot to the cost of supply and helps the transport dept.
if you were to go with Dyfed, I'll give you 'my man' in Zooport to talk to, or I'll suss a figure for youdealing with Llanelli office is like trying to have a sensible conversation with chimps on crack

do you have a good source for the concrete sleepers - make excellent roads/hard standings too, if you prep rightWestcountry Concrete are about 1mile from me... 15ft x 5ft x 4" panel about £300+ vat last time I checked.
