I used to do that mate, and it's a real ballache. I made the trolly myself, and I made sure it was plenty stable enough It's got a decent base on it.
Really nice to be able to just wheel the whole lot to where it's needed. The set is an R-Tech 250- it's been good.

Steelwrist import / rebadge the Tiltman hitches that are very similar to the ones shown , 30 % tilt very compact , s type hitch in manual or hydraulic I think , No idea how much but they had them at the watling jcb big yellow day on Saturday according to a twitter page . You lose out in tilt but gain in build height very neat .

They're f****ng horrendous money new (from exac-one at least). Was going to look at Hardford one but probably cheaper to add new cheek plates to mine to make it fit properly one day. I got mine fairly cheap on eBay second hand.

What pin sizes do you need?

I looked at a few s/h units on Helac's site just after I bought the 'Drema ..... **** me ... could buy a s/hand tilty ... well over £7k to suit her .... s/hand FFS !!

I really like the look of those hitches, Ollie. I've gotta say though, I couldn't live with just 30 degrees of tilt- it's not enough for profiling banks, etc.

This thread reminds me I need to finish my beam - I have it made up all apart from the headstock - I cobbled up a way where it is picked up by my tilt bucket .... I tried it in the yard but its a right old lump swinging around and I havent used it yet might just finish it off with a normal headstock and make do without tilting it till I get a tiltrotator.

Yeh know what your saying, it’d be like taking a step back, think it’s more aimed at there self drive market than anything, just been able to put a machine out with something on the end. There equivalent of GAP out there has tiltys on everything over 3/4 ton, so for the smaller machines, they'll put something like that on.

Just one observation that I don't think has been covered in the thread so far. If you have a tilty, don't be tempted to make the beam as wide as possible. There are a couple of reasons: Wider beams exert greater torque on the the slew motor in the tilty and if you snag something with the edge of the beam you can strain things. On larger machines, less of a problem; but we are seeing more of these on mini-diggers these days. The other issue is that (as I think Graham mentioned) some variants have a flat plate on the back which can be useful with sand and the like. OK for moving material around, but don't be tempted to cut corners and dig with it because your bucket is at the other end of the site.

I made mine 1500mm overall, seems about right for a 1.9t and Powertilt. The grading bucket is 1015mm wide so had to be a fair bit bigger than that in my book.

Don't see a problem with that, doob. It's more the rotational forces that are the problem. We generally stick to 1500mm on S40 (up to 6t), 1250mm on S30; but that's under a tiltrotator.

I know I have a Tilty under mine but.....it was the fact that I could see very clearly what the levels are grading out like that improved the quality of my work and speed. Will get a pic this week but the grader has down gone to my mate to use under his 6 ton not Tilty equipped digger. It was supporting some widths exrension and a laser beeper when I popped in yesterday to see how the driver was getting on. He said far better than a bucket!
