yeah a quick google says 25 year old cars are usa exportable and thats the age i would want.

I'd wager that the folks who can afford to import one into the USA won't bat an eyelid.
Bear in mind there's a strong market for buying say a £15k Def here, shipping it over, gutting it and chucking an LS into it and selling it for 200k dollars

That one comes with a second hand chassis that needs blasting/painting and it needs a repair on the bulkhead. Ive seen ones in need of chassis and bulkhead go for £3000 on ebay so will hold out for similar priced one in that condition.

Mate had a series 2 (I think, might have been a 3) 88 come in as a rolling chassis for a rear crossmember- which became a half chassis, which became a complete strip down to a bare chassis for repair all round, which became a galv replacementassume you've been asking Q.s then ?? ... chassis are a POP to repair with nothing attached to them as long as they're not dire

My disco was like that, where ever you looked even though it wasnt holed, it was thin.
I want to go new galv because it takes a while to complete the project and ends up costing a fair bit so i only want to do it once. I think the disco was £8000 to change the chassis and all the manky bits.
With the extra cost of a defender i suspect it will be over £10,000.
