Pickup Tyres - Alternative to BF Goodrich?

The best pickup tyres I have ever had where Yokohama geolander a/t
Not as good off-road as others but the road manners where brilliant and in wet cold icy weather they beat bf Goodrich or grabbers hands down. They where also slightly cheaper but think they have crept up now

Last time I looked .. it was hard to find 3.5T load rated AT tyres

Looking for suggestions
Hoping for a 265/65r18 to make the pickup sit up a wee bit. Seems to be a bad size though ran falken MT on the last pickup can’t get them in this size though!
Bfg all terrain is kinda strong money and a bit s**t in gutter but maybe there the most sensible options? Full blown MT seems a bit OTT but getting stuck is annoying

I went up to 285 60 R18 on my Hilux (and previous Navara) - they went on without any rubbing but were as big as you’d get away with.

Does the number e.g 114T equate to spreading the load over the 4 tyres or just the rears

They have to add up to the axle weight (so you could technically have lower rated tyres on the front in theory).

If it’s a 3500kg axle then yes, but I would’ve surprised if it is that high on a 3.5 tonne vehicle. More likely to be 2200kg ish I’d have thought.

They look quite smart, my truck looks like its skipped leg day at the gym currently

If it’s a 3500kg axle then yes, but I would’ve surprised if it is that high on a 3.5 tonne vehicle. More likely to be 2200kg ish I’d have thought.

I'm trying Toyo, been on BFG since before Michelin bought them out but at a £100 a tyre more than the Japanese tyre my brand loyalty has wavered

They do the wildpeak at3w in that size if a all terrain tyre will do, they are a decent tyre. Got patriot/renegade at the moment and they are not the best

Bf Goodrich still do it for me. More expensive, but seem to last so much longer they are worth the extra up front cost. Tried some general grabbers and they lasted about a third of the mileage , but not a third of the price.

Other thing up here is the slate eats grabbers sidewalls for fun. Ive done at least 2 grabbers... Never done a bfg.
BFG got Kevlar sidewalks iirc.

Yeah the rt or rt+, both brands are owned by the same company and have the same tyre just different branding.
On my old ranger I had ebc grooved discs and yellow stuff pads, which easily passed the breaking capability of the tires, nothing like coming to a junction with a full trailer (not even fast) hitting the brakes and the fronts just locking up. Latest ranger has the same tyres just in a different size not quite as bad breaking wise.
They do look smart and if you have a decent bit of sidewall you get the skull and piston
To be fair they are in their own "rugged terrain" category which is meant to somehow bridge the gap between at and mt tyres l and I have not had proper mt tyres before to compare the breaking issue to.
I have been stuck with the renegades although nothing would have managed as, was on soft ground and the trailer tyres sank into the ground when loading the 8026 on, was also stuck once with the wildpeaks but again don't think any other tyre would have made a difference as was out green laning and it was an unused and very deep ruts, it was a case of how far till you get stuck, so was pretty much beached on the chassis, even the landy guy wouldn't go down

Think I've mentioned on here before BFG Re supposed to be launching their new RT tyres soon...
But this has rumbled on for ages.
Between a AT and MT all accounts gonna be a damn good tyre but still no word on a date from my dealer.

I've stopped using BFG..... Only getting around 25k of late and cutting sidewalls long before that

And you can still flog them after 40000 miles with 5 plus mm of tread on ebay for a few quid. Every little helps!
