Surprised myself van shopping today.
Popped up on auto trader yesterday in Bristol which nicely tied in with collecting the 05 plate daughter from Uni
Have been unable to find a l2h2 340 Custom Trend with AC in silver. They all seem to be MHEV and limited with alloys which I don’t want.
Struck a deal and this one should be landing in a couple weeks.
Nice to see plenty of MK7s still on the market.

170ps are really hard to find, folk seem to keep hold of them!
I have a couple of MK7s remapped to 185 (allegedly-not rolling road tested) and whilst lively they are no where near as nice to drive as our 66 plate MK8 170. I think the 130 is just a map away from 170... but last time I had 3 done (spending my Covid loan! - I had one pop a ECU the next day and the map man who was a friend of mine, was underwhelming in his support. I ended up not paying him for any of the mapping, and chucking the garage about £800 to find and fit and code a new ECU to the dead van. We all walked away from that a bit annoyed!

Chatting to insurance broker earlier .
He mentioned transits are getting worse to insure....I laughed he said serious ...a few factors apparently.
Availability of new ones...parts scarcity which leads to vans nicked for parts etc.
He reckoned worse to insure than VW now .

There’s loads of new pre reg transits around, which tells me there’s too many new unallocated & unsold transits thus they get pre registered…🤔

Couple little love bites here and there. Dont mind that as it will get some more. Only 130ps though so whilst nicer to drive in town will be less fun on proper roads.
Apparently they are only software limited for power and a copy of forscan and an appropriate dual speed obd reader, it's possible to change to 170 dependant on ECU. Same as the 105 can be changed to 130

They pre reg to meet sales quotas for rebates or what ever the reason is. Suppose it's only an issue if you need a specific spec for the van

Yes I think all 3 power outputs are same hardware? Which is a joke really

Yes exactly, my point is you can’t pre reg vehicles if there is a shortage of them 😉
Valid point. Just passing on what he said and he's one of the few folk in insurance I've ever met that I trust 😂

I'm sure the 105 can only go to 130. Some of the vws are the same, I'm sure you could do the same with the golfs
VWs are a whole ball game. Think transporters you could take a 109 up to 180 if you had the balls!
There has been a few iterations. Seems to remember the early golf TDIs the tuners only found out later that the factory bigger tunes had uprated clutches 🤭
@pettsy will confirm the excitement of those early days when you discovered you could make your TDI a damn site quicker just with a bloke and a laptop. Or heaven forbid those black boxes 😂😂 I had one 😱

I used to have Volvos and test drove a 850 T5 once. I walked away from that as I thought it might actually kill me one day. Think they used to map them upto 300hp.
I’ve kinda lost the enthusiasm for mapping stuff, it’s never seems as pleasant as a factory tune. I’ve had offer to take Dmax upto 190 odd, but not bothered. Stock 163 seems enough normally. I’ve got my camper running at 185 and to be honest it’s not as nice as the 140 it was before.
