The boys rocked up with the chipper and we dispatched the hedge on the first day...

Danny (the boss) turned up with the doughnuts for the boys

2nd day today saw me digging out remaining roots and rubbish.
Then grading it back ready for gravel boards.
Because the lane and site is sloping in two directions, the height difference varied between 2 and 4 feet.
So they are sticking in 10' and 9' posts with 2 or 3 gravel boards

String line in and guy in charge of fencing well pleased - "Good to see an operator that is so smooth and take care on the job"
Working with these young guys made me feel young again.

So since last year sort of been 'semi-retired' whatever that means. Well I'm now 68
Just go out locally picking a choosing my jobs....

But for the last few months my younger 13 yr old grandson, Jack has been coming up each weekend to earn some pocket money

And Jack absolutely loves my little dumper, following in the footsteps of his older brother Ryan

Perhaps I'll get off my butt and do more updates on my blog as to what we have been up to for the past two years or so......

I reckon you struggle to find up and coming lads in whatever trade you look for now. All my contacts are old boys on the verge of retirement. Do the world a favour get them younguns trained up!

Thanks Gra - been a one man band for 15 years and loved every minute.
Now training our Jack in 'spannering skills'
He's now 14 yrs and can service cars and small plant....

This bunch of Generation Z Snowflakes are a bunch of tossers (technical term!)
When I was younger always had two or more jobs. We bought our first house at 19 by sheer hard graft.
At least my grandsons are picking stuff up from me along the way ...

......here's our Jack servicing Jaaaag XF last weekend.

So we bought him a decent "Makita" toolkit for Xmas

So for now any recommendations for Phenolic Plywood Flooring (AKA Buffalo boards)?
When I did my Ifor a few years ago I used ATE and now their prices are through the roof
I'll post some photos once the plant trailer is dropped off at my workshop.....

Funny enough i just doing the same job on my trailer. Lights all good now and just ordered buffalo board 18mm . £104 for a 2440x1220 peice as long as you order 2 bits. I'll send the link if you like

mine in Aber has retired .. went to school with her and have always had a good deal off her .
been out of it so long now that I barely know anyone in the Aber office anymore ... all my contacts/regular 'go to,s' have gone
I've recounted the story before, of getting better prices as Joe Bloggs off the street, phoning for a price, than I have been given as an account holder of 40+ years ... words were exchanged
