Making it pay.........

I gather you live in France, so I don’t know if Engcon or other tilty makers run try out days like happens here, but if they do, get your self down there and have a go and a chat to people who use them.
On one regular job I do it was taking me just under two days digger work with a tilting bucket, but when I up graded to a tilt rotator I am only a couple of hours into the second day and done. So probably a 30 to 40 % productivity increase, which allowed me to get home on the second day, not only saving two hotel bills but also freeing up a day for other work. Doesn’t take long to pay for a tilty like that.

Yep im in France and keep getting some bumph through - got something the other day where they offered to come out to us .... but it was something on a 1.7t or similar and i wasnt sure whether there was much to learn faffing about in the yard on that :)

Impressive time saving you had there.... esp when compared to a tilt bucket - I have a tilty on the 8ton ..... pipes are a PITA

We have only travelled about 45mins max for the last few years so with regard to Hotel Bills *Results may vary* :)

That's the end goal of machine guidance. All the operator will do is pull the levers at roughly the right time and fulfil the H+S element of having an operator in the seat (for now!)

You've only got to look at the tractors that drive themselves on most big UK arable farms.
Yeh, totally agree with you there, some of those tractors are something else, esp John Deere with their auto connect of the PTO and electrics, but your still working around people and have things that can get knocked over while getting to where the GPS is guiding you to.

I'll confess- I called Engcon for a price the other day. They were really helpful- prices straight off the bat and waiting on an email from them. I can easily see how it would pay for itself, especially as I'd finance it. I'd want it on a top hitch and shared between the Hyundai and the E27.

I started with a grapple- wanted a rake but got talked into buying a grapple too. Now I can't do without it, and it's been totally responsible for 50% of the work I've ended up doing.
I struggled to buy my Powertilt back in the day and now I can't do without it.
I worried about buying the Hyundai with loads of buckets and attachments on finance, now I can't do without either it or the ripper, clay spade, pipe laying bucket or other buckets it came with.
I bought the micro on finance, now I can't do without it.
I bought the E27 on finance with a rotating grab- now I can't do without it, and worst of all I have to stop myself reaching for the left roller to try to rotate whilst using the Powertilt.

See a pattern?

Main thing stopping me at the moment is that I can't face a week spend cutting and welding everything to S30, I'm just too busy.

Ask Shaun @TiltyShaun (y)
It took Mark longer to unload his U27 than it did for Shaun to make a decision:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Once you start tilt and rotate you will not want to drive a conventional bucket digger again!

I reckon you've got five-ten years to get in and profit before its the defecto standard and rates are back to where they are today.
UK contractors will continue their race to the bottom, albeit on a more twisty path :ROFLMAO:

Well that was a U turn if I ever saw one. Welcome to the race to the bottom Doobin🤪

Hi all
followed this forum for a while but never posted anything but couldn’t resist adding something to this thread.
im based in Argyll in Scotland and have run a Engcon on various machines for the last 10 years and have to say i can’t live without it now.
A lot of folk can’t get past the cost but you have to focus on its capabilities and savings on extra labour you would have had without it.
I've attached a wee vid of a recent small demolition job which perhaps shows some of its merits

cheers

Mike

My problem is this- am I going to be happy with an SS1 system, or am I going to wish I had both rollers working so I could tilt and rotate at the same time?

Has cost implications as I would need to add another service of sorts to the Hyundaui, plus I think I had to spend a lot more on the control system to run a grab under the Engcon if I go this route? Whereas SS1 I can have a grab underneath? Or not? I'd need to use the spare aux on the bobcat and only 180 degrees rotation due to trailing pipes?

Brilliant Video, Mike - thank you very much for posting it. It says everything that I could about tilties and more, in a lot less time and with more impact. One (constructive) comment: It's a great advert for your business - shouldn't you put some contact details on the end of it?

SS1 - for those not in the know - is tilt or rotate :geek: . I think the key thing is how much you really need to have it on both machines, because that's where the compromise is most keenly felt. On your E27 you have a fair bit of choice: SS9 will give you tilt and rotate, an auto quick hitch underneath and the facility to run the grab 360 degrees. Since this is your first tilty, I'd be tempted to go down this route and keep it on the Bobcat until you're convinced in your own mind that it works for you. You could then make an informed decision on whether to upgrade the Hyundai so that you could swap it between the two.

Tricky one:unsure:

No, your not going to be happy with that system, if your going to do it, do it once and do it right.....obviously theirs a cost implication but there was when you got you power tilt, if you need to hang fire a couple of months to save up a bit more, nothing wrong in that....was it Ollie who was going to do the same, then went full system?

I Agree, to be honest this would be a bit of a backwards step for you!! in that i mean at the minute you can rotate and grab freely, by going the other way you would be switching all the time!

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
you'd hate either /or Doob  .... and not being able to rotate a grab fully ......... reckon some canny wiring and plumbing and you'd be able to have a limited set up for a swap over too ;);) ....... take it you're considering using existing services/plumbing to run it, rather than full DC2 ???
