Inverter welders

I have a cheap 50 quid one I got on eBay it's ok and will weld bits together adequately but my uncles decent one (which I can't remember the brand of) is loads better only thing is inverter welders don't like long extension leads or generators very much

If you plan to use with a generator you either need a generator suitable for use with normal inverter welders or an inverter welders suitable for use with normal generators.
And everyone I know is always full of praise for how long an extension lead they will happily run off. I've had my r tech on a 30m extension lead. And my old man had a Lincoln on two 50m extension leads. I've seen blokes with them on the strap over their shoulder up ladders I the roofs of steel framed buildings with extension leads trailing away, with towable welder and all its leads left parked in the corner.

Found the limit for my Caddy a few years ago .... doesn't like a couple of hundred YARDS of extensions .. had it full up and could just about create a weld that'd hold

Problem with long extension leads is the voltage drop & problem with some generators is you get massive voltage drop when you strike an arc & massive over voltage when you lift off the rod. The welders are usually designed to work between 220v & 240v. Excessively high voltage will burst the smoothing capacitors & lets the magic smoke out .

Well. No delivery of r tech unit today. I’ve emailed them and it’s a sale on a pre ordered basis awaiting stock arrival which is estimated to be August. Why do they not make you aware of this before completing the order

My mate had a 180 from them last week so they must have just run out. Still inexcusable.

Just get an old oil cooled bantam like my backup welder cost me 20 quid welds lovely you won't be carrying it far tho weighs about 100kg doesn't worry about generators or long extensions either
