it was said that Pierpoint slept like a baby, every night, happy in the fact he was doing the world a service .. I could get my head around that too, when there is absolutely no question of doubt.:mad:
Was reading up about him though- interesting his thoughts on death penalty as a deterrent- or lack of. I guess if your of the state of mind to carry out something as sadistic as Southport you probably not thinking about what comes later- indeed a lot of murderers who commit in a somewhat frenzied attack( as opposed to the more cool/calculated approach over a period of time) take their own life- thinking Jake Davison-Plymouth shooter, Derrick Bird etc.

Pierpoint executed people who were later found to be not guilty. But I think in a scenario where there is absolutely no doubt.... Why the F should they be entitled to breath the same air and be propped up by the tax paying public living a sheltered life in jail...

The problem is punishment vs deterrent. As well as reducing repeat offending. And I highly doubt there is ever an answer.
At the end of the day trying to punish these people is a pointless task, I don't think you can ever really punish them.
It further cements my opinion that the human race doesn't deserve the position we have put our selves in and leaving climate change to finish us off rather than fight it is the best option.

Sutcliffe cost the tax payer 1.2 million quid a year to keep ... no question of doubt there .... save the country a bloody fortune - enough was spent nailing him in the first place

Fair play that.
Presumably the reason we don’t see 5th wheel trailers much is because they will come in heavy enough to mean O-Licence unless behind a Dual purpose vehicle ?

Knowing the tricks the electricions get up to, it's surprising this doesn't happen more often.
Perhaps I should expand on this.
Power went out in my house, so I ran the gen until I realized other places in the street had their lights on. A guy from the power company was called and he pulled the meter-box apart – found the neutral junction to be “a bit loose”. He gave it a quarter-turn with his pliers and it’s been good since.
And yes, the back neutral is connected to the red neutral.
And it's only single phase coming in from the street (connected to the first two, but not the third phase - NFI)
And no, the metal meter box is not grounded.

Kicked off in the wrong way too. That's the trouble basically- too many idiots without any degree of decorum ruins the point to be made
Trouble is part of me can never fail to think this trouble is exactly what the government want..... Silence the pissed but just about tolerant Majority with a even more hateful minority. I'd rather have a conversation with Abuhamza than fkn Lennox

Am I the only ones wondering what other news has been hidden this week ...🤔 Tax rises?
School Fees VAT…from Jan 1st. Brought forward from the planned September introduction and also said anyone who has prepaid will have retrospective taxation applied! Very many unhappy families among our friends and I guess many unhappy schools as no time to alter term planning for budget purposes. I expect many of the bursaries will be cut will will force quite a few children back into the state sector.

On the face of it - it seemed like a very simple and logical way to get some more tax income, but obviously not so. I was actually very impressed with the quality of the debate about the pros and cons of it on this forum. It was educational.
