how ever ..... today has been a clean up after Pam's strimming escapades - again , followed by some household maintenance
Pam did the edges of the lawn (she loves playing with the strimmer) but hates the clear up :( ...
sod barrowing it now I have a much bigger 'barrow' to collect with :giggle: ...
had it heaped full by the time we'd gotten all the way round the edges
WP_20240713_13_21_25_Pro.jpg

grabbed the rubber mat I'd hauled out of the floor of the woodshed a week or so ago on the trailer - took the both of us to wrestle the damned thing up a couple of steps and onto the top of the trailer - unbelievably heavy .. was considering using it as trailer bed protection, but waaaaay toooooo heavy for that idea ... so found a new use for it ......
WP_20240713_14_22_29_Pro.jpg

a lot better on the trotters than planings ... and gave it some use this afters ...
the lump of 125 x 25 is flattening out a crease, where it's been curled up a wall for at least the last 15 years :LOL:
this is barely 8 months old and just will not stay on ....
had a tinker, but was damned if I could see why ...
is some complex switch and almost impossible to dismantle o_O
WP_20240713_15_21_12_Pro.jpg

can go back ... 's barely run in

and then .......

'twas Kenwood time ....
been making a few strange noises lately ..
in fairness to it, it was my mother's and I reckon it's got to be well over 50 years old  and never had a spanner to it :ROFLMAO: ...
well that changed today
WP_20240713_16_27_20_Pro.jpg

spectacularly well made, beautifully engineered, fair play .......
but had rather a lot of cake mix hiding inside it ..
plus, the grease in the gearbox had turned to something closer to gum ..
TBH I don't know how the hell it was still going round..
took some separating and then a LOT of cleaning out:rolleyes:
WP_20240713_17_39_21_Pro.jpg

had to scrape as much out as possible
WP_20240713_18_32_05_Pro.jpg

but I did get there after a lot of scraping, and a lot of carb cleaner
WP_20240713_18_32_01_Pro.jpg

didn't take a pic of t'other half cleaned up :( ..
ready to go back together ...
with a lot of fresh lube .. didn't have any food grade grease, but the gearbox is sealed anyway, so some EP2 sufficed
WP_20240713_19_23_41_Pro.jpg

's like a new one again ... nice and quiet (well as quiet as a Kenwood Chef can be)
I very much doubt the current model is this well engineered:unsure:
Needless to say, 'er indoors was well happy with the result ... :giggle::giggle:

but couldn't understand what took me so long though :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
brownie point are stacking up :giggle:

one for @Stock from last night's recycling :giggle::giggle:
WP_20240713_23_33_30_Pro.jpg

and as promised ... the Micron's tow bar in situ .... just lower the rear 'blade'/stabiliser to the desired level and hitch up :giggle: ...... it's pretty well balanced on its road wheels so very little load on the hydraulics on the move .. I'll dig out the transport wheels and set it up when I've half an hour -- tows very well (y)

spent most of the day pressure washing six vehicles, hand washing two of 'em then pressuring them off again ... be a while 'fore four of 'em get the treatment again  .... 'Drema's next on the list for a bloody good wash off

been pretty damned warm here today - 29C .. like a sauna in me boxes
sat on the patio this morning, having a coffee and late brekky, contemplating whether I could be ar*ed to do anything (was a mega day yesterday - kids wore us both out) and thought " come on - gotta do summat "
Nice breeze -- blowing the one brolley about and thought " Ha! That needs doing " so went and found some suitable materials and lopped a few bits .. drilled a few holes and set about creating ...

that'll stop the wind blowing it about, even though it had about 120lbs on the base, it'd still leap about :( .. not any more :giggle:
Having seen the brackets there was a " can you make some more for the other corners - just the brackets - they look great " .. " ferk !!! ":(

"
While you've got the paint out, can you just -- paint the old base "
" I've just put it away and cleaned the brush " :(

however!
cleaned the threads in the pinch bolt ...
WP_20240719_15_45_54_Pro.jpg

wire brushed it off and ..
WP_20240719_16_05_42_Pro.jpg

brought it back down looking 'shinier' - parked it where the kids like to play with the bird bath bowl, to keep any further sun we might get off 'em and put the two 50lb stage weights back on it .. just lift brolley from one to t'other as required

was gonna put the gear and the caddy away and thought there's summat else I wanted to drop some weld onto :unsure::unsure: .. ah yes ........
WP_20240719_16_16_04_Pro.jpg

have a crack at a repair ... would've been so much easier with a MIG, but was blowing fair-ish this afters, so Caddy it was :( ...
took bloody ages, but got there --
WP_20240719_17_15_42_Pro.jpg

think I'll bang a wheel tape in this with a tube -- can't really see it being completely air tight ... a lot more solid than it was though, and'll do as a get you home spare  ... coat of shiny tish and tea ..
followed by a tidy up and second coat of tish .. after tea .. good paint drying weather today :giggle::giggle:
chuck a tyre and tube on it tomorrow .. pretty sure I had one passable one left

local HUGE nursery used to have a sale two or three times a year .. found out it's on every weekend now, so thought I'd better let the boss in on the info. :)
not set to be much of a day so little 'jolly' out ... thought I'd better stick the trailer on as I'd been told they were very, VERY ... cheap!!
had probably pushing 400 quids-worth of plants, if you'd bought them elsewhere, for 120 quid.
One very happy SWMBO ... she loves her garden
it is some set up there!!

been a while since I mounted a tyre with a tube ...
I'll take a tubeless any day
repaired rim with the best of what came off the trailers recently -- a spare, spare :giggle:
WP_20240720_20_33_27_Pro.jpg

While I had the tyre dept. set up thought I'd sort the flat on the manor's road wheels ...
tube took a bit of patching ..

been there 12+ years so hasn't done badly, considering our poxy weather ...
major strip and rebuild .. my back is in half tonight
WP_20240722_13_08_48_Pro.jpg
WP_20240722_13_09_07_Pro.jpg

finding suitable bits of lumpy stuff, was one of the major issues ... didn't want to waste half the day running round fetching timber
but found enough sat about to cater for the demand .....

ground has moved in a few places since it was originally built so had to have the odd compromise, here and there .. the blockwork in the middle is an attenuation tank for the land drains .. 's 8ft deep and the datum for the deck build originally ..
one end has sunk about an inch :( .. not the tank - the sleeper divider between garden transitions and the face board  .... will do 'til the next rebuild -- which might just be concrete and slabs ..'s all a bit spongy in a few corners - was hoping for another year or two out of it
back together tonight and tools away by half eight

bin's been going all day @Stock ... been having a tidy up on the patch trying to collect up as much of the thousands of dry leaves that've accumulated over the last few months ... barely made a hole in it ... they're bloody everywhere - every time I move summat there's more .. I'm kippered tonight
