Fuel pump issue

I came home from work today and thought I'd get the mower hooked up to the tractor and get organised for cutting the hay. But the tractor won't start ! She's a NH 7740, Turns over no bother but no hint of firing, I've checked the fuel filters and sediment bowl and all has plenty fuel and looks clean enough. Slacked injector pipe but no fuel coming, removed injector pipe at pump and no fuel, checked the stop solenoid and appears to be working fine, removed the pipe from the filter and fuel flows out with hand pump. Took out the fitting where the fuel goes in and removed the gauze and cleaned it, was a bit dirty but not blocked, There must be something inside the pump that stopped working or choked or siezed. Anyone offer any suggestions before I pull it off and send the pump to be checked.

You could try taking the plunger out of the stop solenoid.

and maybe a few gentle taps to the pump body with a small knockometer ... might be stuck -- had it with the Hodna on my pressure washer from standing

She has been sitting for a month or so so could be something stuck.

When you tested the stop solenoid did you see it moving and holding on the ignition ? Or just moves by hand?

Check stop solenoid as that is the easiest, worse case remove the plunger. Then like druid says, a gentle tap may free off governing components if it has been sat for a while although bit of a shot in the dark really but I've had it work before.

Yea take the plunger of the solenoid, see if it does any thing

I took the stop solenoid out the pump and plugged it back into the harness then turned on the ignition and held it against the engine and watched it pop in and out freely each time I held it on.
I'll try taking the plunger out and smacking the pump casing and see if anything goes tonight.

It'll probably make you feel better using a hammer - even it it doesn't work.

Can you take the stop solenoid out and take picture of both parts plunger and pump, then while you have the plunger out and injector pipes off video it turning over

Not really got a rack, had that on another older ford engine.
I'm now thinking lift pump not pumping.

Turned it over with stop solenoid out and no fuel coming out the hole.

I'm maybe getting confused, it's not like the ole Perkins engine where the lift pump is driven off the engine, this one is just a hand pump for primeing, not a driven lift pump so it must suck the fuel from the tank

Find a willing assistant to pump the hand primer while you crank her over .........actually better to get someone else to turn the key while you pump and watch the injection pump

Hopefully you had a key on the pump driveshaft or the engine timed at TDC else putting it back on is gonna be a fun process. Can't imagine it is gravity fed either. There surely must be an electric or mechanical lift pump?
