Not driven one, only sat in at shows, but local static caravan guy has one fitted out with winches and front and rear tow hitches, he really rates it, powerful and heavy, ideal for shunting statics around, he's got a fleet of ageing D4s he's been using previously, apparently the D5 isn't tough/heavy enough for the job. (his words not mine)
With regard to pickup comfort we've got a 24 plate invincible here, has replaced a 72 plate ranger, neither of which I would really describe as comfortable. The ranger was more comfortable than the Hilux and had a better layout in the cab, as well as more elbow room. The Hilux is a way better tow tug and feels stronger made, however the internal layout is shite, the bluetooth cuts in and out all day, the sat nav is crap and doesn't work half the time, brand new truck was delivered with the rear sidelights not working? Admittedly all first world problems but would really have expected Toyota of all people to have stuff like this nailed? plus the amount of bings and bongs it makes drives me nuts.
