Wonder what's up with it ...that's lost a fair bit in depreciation.
Id not be rushing to buy one of the first ones and tbf I've gone off them now...never seen one dirty yet

Hilux seem to have released the 2.8l engine and auto box in there active range even as a king cab. Isuzu do auto and cruise control on the utility spec. I think that is the closest I can see to value anytime soon.
Anything I actually want is now very long in the tooth.

Years ago they should of offered the 3.0 in the mk6 single cab lux in the UK.

I don't care for cruise control or electric windows or even ac. I just want a single cab truck with the grunt of the double cabs...but it seems those that only buy show pony trucks for image get the big lumps but the worked ones don't get the choice.

I think it's more to sway people to buy the more expensive vehicles more than anything.
Should just be like the Americans and Aussies and get single cab top of the range trucks.
I like cruise as I do a lot of miles and average speed cameras are everywhere now. Ac isn't a deal breaker but I find modern trucks make horrible noises with the window down, I don't care about climate control I fiddle with the temperature constantly regardless so wasted on me. And electric windows are great as you can open the passenger side without climbing over the console. Heated seats make me feel like I've wet myself. Never tried cooled seats.
Rear camera is good aswell for trailers but I don't need the lines to steer for me, I think lines on the camera are more of a hinderance than help

Yep cruise for me but not the adaptive 1, lecky windows ac is nice as is heated screen for few frosts we have

You can get heated screens for series landys now have to say I'm tempted for the forward control as the heating is usually crap

Coming from a Transit background and having had heated screens for last 18 years - bloody awesome! Miss it in the Dmax. Cameras easy enough to retrofit.

Paying £40k to go a bit faster would be a complete waste of money to me. I have a 2004 disco with 125k on the clock, lovely comfy leather seats, heated windscreen, air suspension, automatic. Cost me £3500 and has been very good value for money.

Best thing I fitted in my vito was a programmable cab heater set it for a hr before leaving and its nice and warm when you get in

Miss my Disco 300tdi. Best vehicle I ever had. Sold it to calm a relationship dispute. In hindsight I should have kept the truck and lost the new girlfriend .
I think it’s rotting in a feild In Tavistock now , can’t be certain it’s mine as can’t quite see the reg over the hedge

Do it. 300tdi defender was best of the bunch and good for what it was meant for.

I’ve got a 300tdi HiCap looking sorry for itself in a field here along with a new galvanised chassis and bulkhead to be ‘reborn’ when I get a spare life!

Do it. 300tdi defender was best of the bunch and good for what it was meant for.

My BIL has a ex electric board one in his shed that needs a new home. He took top off to weld chassis then got side tracked. Not sure if 300 or TD5 though. Make a nice project for someone. In Cornwall near A30

The red pickup is starting to look something like ok...
But they are peddling them at Goodwood etc...not plant and "working" shows" what does that tell you? Expensive toy sadly

Plant and working shows a bit niche....your average builder won't want to pay grenadier price tag then batter it to feck, they had a nice stand at the game fair last year. Its aimed at guys who off road/tow a lot for work, big farms estates etc. Just like there was very few builders running old defenders, its not there to replace pickups.

Proof will be in the pudding as they say
I've spent a bit of time in them now and do like them and indeed placed an order and subsequently cancelled due to the tax b#llsup...but as for towing all day they aren't a patch on a modern pickup for comfort sadly.

Still yet to see any doing a day's work up here.
All the estates run hiluxs or defenders.

Someone commented interestingly the other day maybe if they'd branched away from original defender design a bit rather than been a carbon copy it might have gained more traction?
