New excavator pins

I've not checked yet, but if the holes for the pins have been worn beyond the bushing what can I do to save them. Will i have to get someone out with a line borer to weld them up and rebore them? I could look at getting my mate to do them with his milling machine. Well the ones on the quick hitch not sure about the ones at the bottom of the dipper...

could always take 'em out a bit to lose any ovality and have bigger bushes made up? is the miller big enough to handle a dipper on it's table? whip the dipper off, if it is

Thats an idea. Mate with all the machines would be chuffed with all the work hahah.
I mean I don't think a dipper on the table would exactly crush it but the majority of the dipper would have to be propped up in the rest of the shed it'd be some operation

I used to do a lot of pin and bush replacement, (there was a full thread on the old forum)

EN10 wont last long!! pins need to be case hardened if your talking about a front line machine. At the very least EN24T should be used.

You wont drill or turn case hardened pins easily at all.

My advise, price around for proper hardened pins and bushes..... if you send me some sizes etc il get you prices across

I'm not ready for the job yet so haven't taken any measurements, but when I do I'll give you a bell.

Surely it will machine fine with carbide tooling?

do-able though with care ..... and that Pallas has a plunging quill with plenty of travel and a good set of sliders, BTLs ... nice boring head'd do a sweet job

Don't think it is though Aiden ? a softer pin is easier to replace than doing the bushes with regularity and a damned sight cheaper by the length .... make a lot of pins out of 30 quids-worth of bar

Easy to make too, be better to make some every 2 years rather than take 3x as long and 3x cost making them every 5?
