I think they have priced it too high tbh, biggest rival was always the disco but now trying to go against the defender by being more expensive from the off just won’t work.. maybe if they had a comparative engine to the D300 in the defender/disco but with a 2.8 200hp slugger it won’t wow anyone whatsoever!

Yeah, I agree - that’s the current hilux engine by the sounds of it. Very underwhelming sadly. An £80k Land Cruiser need a big diesel V8 imo.

Saw a post on farmers group on facecake about jcb small loader is it the 403, the avant size one. Guy was saying he bought one new in 2022 and it was £25k his is 1100 hrs looking to replace it now they’re £38k and dealers offered 14k for his!
How is that even possible? That’s more than inflation we are being fecked over.

I thought some of the used prices at RB and euros were pretty strong? Excavators seemed in short supply, a lot had big hours on…
But 24k to swap is madness £22/hr cost over 2 years…… (depending how you look at things)

Prices are horribly low if you compare to the last 4 years and put it against a new price . I mean it is back to the norm but a golden rule I always worked to was 3 tonne machines would always be worth its age as a trade ( up to say 2010) and it’s a rule that has always worked , currently they are 2-3 k below this and even 5 tonnes are way off the pace .
The 13 tonne market is horrible
We sold a zx690 retail 2018 10k hours for 150 odd k a few months ago , the same machine in age and hours but 20 tonne heavier did 100k last week .
Telehandlers are terrible too.
Again I’m comparing to the past and now against new machines ….. a new 13 tonne hitachi is high 90s? 2 year old ones with 1000 hours making 63 k? I bought 3
How about Amman rollers , 2023 ,75 hours 120 size. 13.5 k . Got that comming too . It’s brand new and has lost 8-10 k?

I’m using my ten year old 70000 mile Defender (which has been 100% reliable from new) instead of the 2 year old 30000 mile Hilux as the AC has packed up in the Toyota. It’s been to the dealers twice for a couple of days each time and still doesn’t work, and is unbearably hot without it.
It’s had several recalls, leaking shock absorbers, and is generally a bit s**t.

I had a drive in my mates brand new ranger on Tuesday and I've got to say I bloody love it. Powerful, comfy, roomy- as you'd expect given the size of it, although it really didn't feel too big on the road. Loads of toys if you like that sort of thing.
Massive improvement over my 21 plate ranger or his 21 hilux.

And the current gr sport is soo bl**dy uncomfortable. The one I drive seems well built. The body work doesn't bend when you lean on it like some modern pickups.
But the ergonomic aspects are really poor. It's invincible spec and my wife's pretty standard spec Kia Sportage is a thousand times better for things like the radio and cab controls

That was a massive hate of mine with the 21 reg ranger, the way the panels flex when you lean in to the tub!!
The tailgate was as flimsy as anything, even my Dad's 18 plates one feels twice the weight
