Interesting times here just now , recently you can’t get a pot hole filled never mind get the A9 dualled as the greens have resisted every penny proposed spent on the roads . So I’m now hopeful we might get the A9 dualling and A96 underway. Also Labour have had a bit of a resurgence in scotland . That might make them a viable alternative .

so don't pay it in ... I used to pay as many local bills with cash as possible .... share the joy :giggle:
Long live the money circle- one morning 3 of us were in a mates kitchen, he settled up with me for some logs, I gave it straight to mate two for some tree work who promptly gave it back to mate one for some welding 😁
Mate ones wife then walked in and took it straight out of his hand for 'safekeeping ' 😆 🤣 😂

Makes me laugh when buying something of Marketplace or a mate for a couple of hundred quid or so and they say 'oh any chance of a transfer, don't know what I'll do with all that cash'. Bloody spend it! The next however many times you're in a shop and you'd have used your card, use that cash, it's not rocket science! 😆 🤣

I always pay in any cash or at least my wife does. She can't understand cash and likely doesn't trust me with it, got a fairly indignant look earlier when I said there was some money in a PayPal account. But tbh everything of ours is online. The bills are all direct debit including childcare. Online shopping for the most part as to busy to visit shops. And we rarely go for a meal. Only thing that is bought in person is hair cuts and petrol for her car neither are done very often.

Yep was a good explanation of what happens to £50 if that is paid by card. Once it's gone they've got you by the balls

I help out at a Scout troop and all payments are now done through an online system, so we have to add on the cost of that transaction to the cost per person on every chargeable event. While at the same time trying to keep costs down as much as possible. It annoys me, all that money just being given away to card companies etc. Glad its not really my department, i stick to the practical side😒
When I was a kid, not that long ago, school/club/scout events all worked on the very simple system of 'here's a form, fill it in, return it with X amount in an envelope by X date, if you don't then you're not going'. A simple system that worked well for a very long time. Also didn't need hundreds of pounds worth of phone/laptop to deal with it, just a biro 😆 😜
It'll never go back to those days of course, there are no bloody banks to pay the money in to for one thing 😕 😒

always have a decent wedge in my wallet .. never know when you want need to buy a bargain ;):giggle:
Can't stand going anywhere without at least a couple of hundred quid in my pocket, even if it's for something as boring as a dodgy card not letting you pay for diesel...
Went on a stag do in Cardiff last year, on the Friday night I went out without cards or phone, just the amount I was happy to spend that night. Apparently that's weird 😆 took me 15 minutes to manage to unlock my hotel room so I'd clearly taken everything I needed with me to have a good time 😆 🤣
