latest covid will not show on the tests, from my experience Crimbo time ... but was deffo covid .... there are all sorts of variants doing the rounds too .... one round here ATM which is flooring folk literally .. some sort of inner ear issue, screwing with their balance.
Had an inner ear infection/virus, mid 80,s .... was horrendous ... couldn't stand up/sit down/lie down with out the room going round, for weeks, like being permanently pissed, but cohesive ... for weeks I was walking by focussing on a point and heading for it, then pick another point ... self employed, no option ... was glad to see the back of it, as couldn't drive for going 6 weeks

Ducts in - some stoning up and strung out for railway sleepers tomorrow, been dry today more or less and dry tomorrow hopefully.

Hired thwaites newish hydrostatic 3 ton wouldn't tip this load of mot, didn’t feel excessive

Trying out the grading beam, see why suited to rotating on tilty and not much working envelope with it but first hour had hang of it

Will use it bit more and see what I think

Can't be right surely that dumper? I had my new (to me) Terex TA3h out on a job. Had 12 ton delivered at a time and shifted it in 3 loads with about a grading buckets worth left over didn't feel like it struggled either tbh. Those thwaites have a fair bit smaller skip despite both being 3 ton on pepper

Think if it's hydrostatic it needs a fair lump powering it- quite a small engine those thwaites. Notice the new mecalacs TA3s have also dropped in CC quite dramatically

What’s in the latest ones? Mine has a lovely kubota engine in it, will have alook what’s on the plate tomrrow if I make it out the house!

Yeah it's gone from the decent Kubota v2203 2.2l down to the 1.6l Kubota d1703. A real shame, I bet it's gutless now.

Oh yeah just checked and a 50hp engine is an option now! Curious to know what’s in mine now!

2018 TA3SH & just checked its the 2203 engine(50hp) .

the new ones with 25hp are going to be a waste of time!! Half the power and 3/4 the torque

We’ve got a 2016 mechalec 3 ton swivel (JCB badged) and a 2006 terex 3 ton straight skip. The old one absolutely runs rings around the 2016 ,far more stable,much better traction on soft ground even with worse tyres,faster and huge capacity for a 3 tonner. So if they are becoming even lower powered will be an absolute waste of time .

Must be a duff one, or jcb spec’d a crappy engine in them? Like I said ours is bang on, hydrostatic defiantly turns them into a nice little dumper, no more crunched gears for a start!

Mines not hydrostatic,that may make a difference I guess, to be fair I would’nt say it’s a terrible machine just not a patch on the old one.

don't know what this was .... said Terex 'on the tin'

but was JCB under the bonnet

got stuck with it first time onto the tip area ... the WN9 tonner had just sailed across it fully loaded for weeks (my Thwaites'd also have p*ssed it) ...

also struggled to tip a full skip of spoil ...
had 1 hr on the clock - 2017

and was a right cantankerous bitch to start ... too many lockouts that had to be just so, 'fore it'd crank (and an iffy key switch IMHDO)

Think it’s the big version of our 3t, the swivel makes them far worse at discharging anything even slightly wet and the angle is rubbish when tipping ‘uphill’ on a stockpile.

Cracking day in the sun - bit more stone then a sand/grit playing surface in the pétanque pitch and its a wrap.
lots of buried work as per usual in this job.
