That's what I thought, I ve removed the key from the isolator switch and the battery has still drained, unless the isolator switch is faulty as well, I'm not mechanical minded, so I ve googled issues but theres so much electrics on there it's a mind field, but I put a.new.battery on it the other day, turned isolator off and the battery still drained dead,

shouldn't be anything connected to drain it, if the battery is isolated properly ????
A.fully charged battery will last about 2 days before it goes dead and it won't start,I can jump it but then the automatic brake will just kick in them and it won't go in or out of gear, change battery for a new one and all is fine again until about 2 days later same issue,

so it's draining whilst running? who checked your alternator .. if it's good it should keep it fully charged

I took it to a place in tredegar who reconditions them, and he said everything was fine with it, that why I'm thinking it could be a faulty relay, can you think of any other tests I could do on it or anything else I could check,

Negative terminal off and multimeter in between terminal and battery, see what the number is then start pulling fuses/relays till it drops.
If the battery is 80ah and fully charged, that's 1 amp for 80 hours to discharge the battery, so in 2 days it would need to be drawing 2 amps.
Get it running nd see what volts are at the battery if it's less than 14v start looking at the wiring or potentially the alternator/generator/rectifier is dead

That's the place, I'm not sure I will check tomorrow,do you know where these would be on the thwaites 1ton dumper, thanks
follow the wires from the back of the alternator - if it has a reg. pack it'll be there somewhere

If it has a separate regulator they are often fitted in the battery compartment or near the battery so that it can regulate the alternator allowing for voltage drop through the length of the battery lead.

It’s what I do!
Take a picture of the alternator! I think it may be generator and reg

Hi all,I'm not sure if this is the only cause, but tested the relays today and one is faulty it's the durakool dg56t relay, does anyone know the function of this relay on the 1 ton thwaites dumper, thanks 👍

Morning All,

I have a 1t high lift Wacker Neuson dumper that is killing batteries. Fully charged battery lasts about a day (average 5 starts max.). Even a brand new battery is ruined rapidly.

Checked all fuses and all ok.

Suspect a faulty alternator, but before I launch down that route, wondered if anyone on here had any ideas or experience?

Thanks
guy i know had probs on his neuson simular to you it was parking brake relay short on pins

Thanks sulky, I believe that's the same issue with my thwaites, the relay was faulty and draining the battery, changed it earlier and hoping that's the end of the problem, 👍,thanks everyone for all the help and advice,
