I personally know of 4 of my friends plus 1 outside my house, and local Facebook group for poshest bit of Sheffield is a regular thing for rr/lr thefts so I think it’s more than just scaremongering

Go back to good old keys who decided we can’t put a key in an ignition anymore made them so easy to steal
Agreed on keys👍

And we all know of them being nicked but I'd still love to see actual figures

There's lots going missing daily, just some advertised more than others, such as land rover.

Lots of fiestas gone locally.

Yard across from me was raided few weeks ago. Many a vehicle goes in and comes out in bits. The other one few units up suddenly disappeared leaving cars abandoned in a car park just round the corner.

Later ones have a pig piss system for the polar bears (adblue) so there's obviously that to go wrong but that age are euro 6 so ulez compliant and from about mid way through the model life they replaced the auto gear lever with a pop up rotary selector which can go wrong and not pop up.
So personally unless you want euro 6 I'd go for the newest gearstick model possible.
But I'm sure other people could come up with just as good a reasons to buy other aged ones.
Condition and history always beat age though for me.
Good advice. But do not lose sight of the crankshaft failures these are known for. I had a discovery 4. Lovely car to drive and to tow with but it snapped the crank. I put another engine in it and sold it. Glad I did with them now costing around £700 to tax per annum

They do, but everything has a common fault..or one that is taken out of prospective.

Proty much every proper 4x4 of that age is nearly £700 tax.

I'm cut me in half and it'll say hilux but they have faults, all relative to vehicles of the same age. But ask a layman and they will say, toyota is bombproof and other is ticking time bomb.

I reckon That insurance thing is a scam from insurers jumping on media hype and whacking it up. I'd love to see actual hard figures of what's stolen compared to other stuff...
I wonder how much for a knicked one 🤔

Sidesteps, think they took a pic as well lol. So they aren’t euro6?
Late ones with adblue are I'm sure. Guy who does some work at the farm I'm on bought a very late one because its ulez compliant and he lives just inside the boundary.
Another mate of mine has a very late one and I know that has adblue- because it went wrong....

More laurels on this job, they are more to go all along the top of the wall.
Did have a change with some golden flint though. Next part of the job is more grass and more laurels oh and some privet 🤪🤪

damned things get out of control quick though and turn woody fast
who in their right mind plants privet ... endless, thankless task keeping that looking tidy
It's all part of this green wall thing they are obsessed with. And it'll be the Gardner cutting them so they will never understand the hard work involved.

Part of this week's happenings.

Mission was to clear vegetation as far as we could reach and general tidy up.
Had a days delay to the job as a bird survey needed to be carried out first.
After the all clear we cracked on. All vegetation was left on site as part of a wildlife element.
Filled a 40yd roro with timber alone and an 8yd skip with general plastic and other discarded items.

I'm potentially looking at upgrading my iveco.

So thought I'd mention it on here, just on the off chance.

It's a well specced truck. 35c16 hi-matic on a 4100mm wheel base chassis, not the 3750 wheelbase that has the long over hang/bad axle placement.

It's a tipper and if I remember correctly the body is 11ft odd long.

It's just over 3 years old, had its first test in December. Which it flew through.

Reason I'm thinking of selling is I'm looking at going for a 5 or 7t iveco.

I'm looking at it's potential replacement this week, I was going to see what I get offered as px and hopefully that'll give a fair market value for it. I'm not greedy.

I've bought many a vehicle over the years based on giving few extra quid over what they've been offered as px, so I thought that's what I'll do with gauging what I want for it and pass the love on like others have done for me.😊
