That tow bar is rated to 3500kg and 55mph. All held together by M8 bolts and puny little shackles. I don't trust it completely. My old tow rope doubles up quite nicely-almost perfect length.Nice ...and fair play on the 2nd safety rope on the tow bar. Well done

Keep an eye out for the ex rac/aa intertrade tow poles. They come up every so often on ebay etc. Easier to hitch up between two vehicles and decent quality.

got one I made as a teenager with several different 'end' options - ball/eye/shackle - has had some grief over the years - usually when loaned out

Ever been towed with one...the slop is horrible .
We used to have one made from a scaffold tube and 2 shackles...proper horrible...made a right mess of the tow eye area if brakes were dodgy
Always fancied one as the normal ones are crappy really

I put my van in for a service and MOT and the returned it in the afternoon and told me I need to top up the screen wash and the Adblue is low
wtf did I get them to service it for if I have to top up the fluids

done one of them 85+ft high many years ago ...... but I started at the top

My garage charges me for Ad Blue when we ask for it. don’t think they ever do screen wash on a service.They do...had this before they can top up but charge extra ...pathetic
If I service a customers boiler and need to add some inhibitor for example then it’s extra. At least they told you

Someone probably had it topped up and kicked off that they were being charged for something they didn't ask for. I do take the former side of the argument though. Bring back filling stations where the man would come out with the Duckhams jug and a rag.

You'd like to think so but manufacturers say change gearbox oil at 40k, you send your truck in for a service at 40k...there's no gearbox oil change. A service nowadays is engine oil and filter plus air filter...fuel filter is optional.
I've changed engine oil and filters 3 times in my iveco and according to computer its still not due its first oil change for another 18k.

The last firebreak maintenance contractors on this site just ran a topper over it, left half of it missed and the other half as a pile of tinder…
The last fencing contractors hit the height barrier and ‘repaired it’ with bolts, before someone else hit it again.
We’ve done an awesome job in half the time cutting and collecting the firebreaks, and repaired the height barrier professionally between 5pm last night and 9am this morning for a very reasonable £250 plus vat. It’s a popular car park, we blocked the entrance for twenty minutes and had a queue of middle class old folk stretching down the road like the tip on a Sunday morning
Recession? Bring it on. Sort the wheat from the chaff. Loads more tractor and digger work to do for this wildlife trust, plenty more metalwork too I’m sure. And the phone ringing off the hook for other work.
No new tractor yet…. But I’m not driving so I don’t care

I remember having a barrier like that at my parents old caravan site on a side entrance, Dad charged everyone that hit it £250, it became that reinforced that the last person ripped the top of their caravan off even had dangley bit that hit car windscreens, they still drove through it

Yup, this one now has a bottom section of 80x40x5 rather than 60x40x3, as it’s what I had in stock! With the coming recession, we’ve been doing a bit of commercial property maintenance. I’ve done bits and pieces here for years but decided to pay it more attention in the current climate. Very varied. Take out and reinstall some balustrades (no idea why the sash window repair firm couldn’t handle such a simple task). Few guttering repairs (handy having your own mewp although of course it was a touch too small!). Lock replacements, bit of pressure washing. You know, all the pikey trades
Basically as a local I’m first port of call, and if I can’t do it I tell them to get someone else.
Also found time to move a container across a field and into a barn, tidy up at the yard and lay some crush to stop the concrete pad crumbling at the edges with the landlords tractor on it, and made some progress on the little landscaping job. Still far too bloody wet to compact the type 1, never mind lay the hoggin!
