Must be great to work togetherI had a bloke work for me for 5 years before he semi retired, our lass used to help if we needed an extra pair of hands so she stood in while I found a replacement....it never happened and its been quite a while.
Never ever grumbles about anything in life, very stoic, shes quite an impressive lass all roundI got v lucky 33 years ago !
Mine comes and helps, puts a shift in that binds most. Even had 2 builders trying to poach her. Lol

Im out of the digger as much as in it on our usual stuff .... but have to admit it was pretty grim out there this morning.....terrible draft when I opened the door to take my cup of tea 
Transport though isn’t it, pain moving them around on smaller jobs, I tend to move mine job to job. One day will have a place where can run a wagon from and then 5 is great size, I’d like to add a 5 on rubbers to our little fleet got a few jobs for it next year.5/6 ton is a sweet spot for machine size tbh, can do a lot or a little with it!
I very rarely think that I need a smaller machine, if I do it’s only access limited - in which case £50 for a day hiring a micro or 1.5t in sorts it out
I am really surprised @Gunners never went down the 5/6ton path, although I do appreciate he has first dibs on my machine

It’s only a 5 tonner moving locally around Devon lanes - could get an older setup (that would never depreciate and in reality would probably go up in value if bought right and looked after) that would be comfortable moving that and also shifting materials for under £30k. Ford TW15/8630 type thing or even better a Muir Hill and that old Herbst of yours that’s gathering dust at the back of your yard and Robert’s your mother’s brother!
He was talking to @Gunners though who’s superseded all that anyway with 3cx wheeled 5 ton and tractor in 1 lol
I miss having the 432e was brilliant, tad over kill sometimes but always on top of the job. It found a home in neitherlands in the end.
Mine was exactly the same, they cost far too much to run / buy without being on them full time, the only major advantage of them being sat and not used is they seemingly hold value a lot better nowadays!
