My dad tracked our old js130 from the lane head where it meets the B road 1/4 a mile to my grandparents, no fecks given on steels. Did it Sunday morning with mum behind him hazards on. Wouldn’t listen to me lol

Used to be a regular thing here for big excavators to track farm to farm. You could hear them from a way off. Not seen (or heard) it for a while.

My Moffet has plates... but you try and find out if I'm cosher to trundle a pallet up the road for a 100 metres. Mine field. I wonder how many on here have Cat H on their licence? Might be worth an extra post.

I'm guessing noone. Haven't even seen it asked for in any job adverts for machine drivers on highway work.
Only People I know of who have it at for driving cat challengers.

Not quite the same but I drove a dumper about 3 miles through London recently, site had to be cleared on a Saturday and too big to go on my trailer so took it back to yard for collection.

No plates, no lights, various people waving and tooting at me, shitting myself I'd get a tug, went past 4 police cars and they didn't bat an eye.

Worst part was I was just in a t shirt, nice blue skies when I left site but freezing rain as soon as I hit the main road until I pulled into the yard

I’ve got motorcycle A on my newest one after changing address is this just provisional upto 125cc as web says it’s full bike which I haven’t done. Ahh restriction code limits it to tricycles weird haha

Vin has the 1501 the 1.5 ton one which comand 3-4k more at minimum as I’m after one with swivel skip

You and me both . They are brilliant dumpers . We hire a 2 tonne thwaites and the boys all prefer the 1501

My duck and 6 tonne dumper regularly do road runs but I’ve got them both road legal

I’ve been towed in some crap over the years. Worst was a Bedford tk hiab lorry out of a local quarry. No lights or brakes, and dark by the time we got back to the yard. Wouldn’t dare risk it now

my old chap we would tow tractors fresh out of a shed miles no bother,used to move big old caravans miles with a major ,no lights .
go to a sale/auction buy it drive it home didnt matter what it was ,get home before it was dark was the motto
drove a bedford tk home after one sale full of assorted lots ,i was 14

According to gov website for cat h test you only need to reverse a tracked vehicle and turn it round. Followed by some highway code questions and a check of your eyesight

My dad got caught with an ww2 mack 6x6 gun tractor suspended towing a scraper box. No lights no escort no movement order and most likely no insurance. The cop decided the best cause of action considering the scraper box was straddling both verge was to escort him to his destination.
Now days he would be there latest Facebook picture boy.

Happened at the farm where my yard is today pulled in to unload some tools, newish 13 ton kobelco by their bonfire. Tracked half a mile from their plant nursery up the road.
The state half the lane is always in, unsurfaced track basically, the digger has probably improved the surface
To be honest I would say it was the safest, least nuisance causing option as putting it on a lorry would smash the overhanging trees to bits- I've done some hay raking for them a couple of times but always declined to drive their tractor and rake to the field as I didn't want to be responsible for wrecking the rake on a tree!

I once drove a 3 wheeled triple cutter ride on mower 5 miles between villages, and did the same journey the other way towing a 1.5 digger behind a 110 td5 in 'limp mode', no throttle whatsoever, tickover, low range and lots of gear changes the things you do when you're young and dumb, although remember everything is legal if your mate has his hazards on behind you

Towed my sticken 3cx back to my yard with a 3 ton dumper.. it was either completely block a single track lane or get it shifted asap! Can’t remember what was wrong with it.

Spoke with local farmer who told me he towed a static caravan down a A road behind a tractor a good 10 miles back to his farm , Sunday morning job..
