Interesting write-up on 5's here.I assume you're all referring to a 5 lung diesel lump? ...

It makes a couple of interesting points - the firing order means the gas flow through a single carb doesn't work, so you either build a 5-throat carb or wait until fuel injection becomes practical (the first 5's were diesel).
