fair play to the lad ..... that was some ingenious build .. think he might want to uprate his lacing cables for the boom, if he's planning on lifting anything heavy and his tailweight rack looked a little under-spec.ed, but on the whole there were some stokes of genius in some of the ways he utilised what he had ... sadly he has no idea of Akerman linkages on the steering, but his MO for it was very clever

I'd guess he's going to sling the boom of the machine in trouble ... the yellow one is already slung to take the weight as it come back down onto the deck and then upright it .. also guessing the ground has let go under him as he has 'not a lot' on his hook to tip him .. he's a fair size machine

Yeah I was standing there watching thinking I would love to know what the whole thing has cost.

Two cranes there dismantling, artics waiting to take away the sections. Partial road closure all day on a main road through town. Then when I walked past again at 11pm full road closure and another few artics there to take away the ballast.

The access to the site is round the back of the block but it's via narrow roads, probably get nothing bigger than a city crane in there. So I assume it was erected in a similar fashion just with smaller cranes as there wasn't a tower block in the way.

would be multi axle line type trailers ... there's north of IIRC 165 tons on the arse of that machine, plus winches and then there'd be all the luffing fly to transport away and all the cribbing/pads/etc. ... prob.s 10 loads easy

self propelled, self erecting Liebherr tower, (BTLs) .. getting a lot more popular (but not for long term use) and don't have the capacity that the likes of the one posted above, have .... the Europeans use towed self erecting widely on all sorts of sites, from single houses up.

You know this one I did recently in Kensington... well apparently the regs have changed and we cant short rig the crane on the non load side as we did the 1st time, either has to be fully short rigged or fully rigged. So for the upcoming lift we need to do, he will have to be short rigged, which dramatically decreases the load obviously - doubling the time to move the bulk bags. And before anyone suggests it, we cant rig on the pavement and the road isn't wide enough regardless of how many cars we tow out the way!

Regs change is thanks to idiots who forgot they were short rigged on one side making them fall over.... so the rest of us suffer.

's almost always a looong day in a crane cab ... want you on site set up and ready to rock at whatever time they purport to start (rarely there on time) and then sod off leaving you to pack up and very often struggle out of the site, which usually took some getting into in the first place
