Despite the Challenge's, what a fun couple weeks.

I've Been frustrated doing fine grading and shaping with the backhoe, ever sense I got it. I Just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. Saturday morning I had enough. I've been meaning to grub this road verge, for a water line, and Re-Shape it for years. Perfect opportunity to complain about dirt, and look like a fool in private.

First I grubbed it with the tooth bucket, moved all the brush, and picked the rocks out. Next I worked my way down, using the side of bucket, and Slewing to shape the floor/road, and distribute the material evenly.

After Grubbing, I changed to the smooth Bucket, and Began Shaping the Berm. First pushing the material up with the back of the bucket, then cutting, compacting, and shaping it into the needed slope and Berm.

The next day, Feeling Quite Pleased with my project, I Began Excavating around the little house, to make the yards larger, and room for new a new Septic system. This was Quite the mess. Because I couldn't Get around the corner with the loader, I had to dig and Pull it all towards the entrance, then carry it out with the loader, and repeat.

Happy Digging and Happy Spring all!

What a crazy couple weeks. Started on a Rail siding project with some new friends at JH&W Rail. Brought the 315, removed the old tracks and installed new ties. first time using the Forks. they are stupid handy. Even on my worn out old 315, they are just fantastic.

Some work this week. 75 and one of my men is out on hire with another contractor. We are clearing up tree debris on a railroad, and getting ready for a new Job for the city of Woodinville.

What a Fun Friday, one of my friends from California moved up Here and joined our team. We Spent a few hours working together and got our townhome project all ready for paving. So much fun working with someone who just "Gets it". hardly have to talk about what we are doing. just go! Tricky Little project. 5% cross fall. 1% towards the center.

Did the bulk of the work with the 304 and the grade beam, finished it with a skid steer and the Hamm Roller.

Winter is HERE! This week has one of the Huddig's, and its operator 250 miles from home, helping rebuild 17 miles of railroad for a sawmill.

is that a light dusting of snow in the first pic or a heavy frost?

looks like every sleeper (tie) needs replacing in that pic ... if it's all like that he may be home sometime next year  ... Christmas 2024 perhaps  must be a lot of ties in 17 miles of line

Every tie is bad, but 1 in 5 ties being good, qualifies the line as "Class 2" railroad, and allows the movement of freight up to 40MPH. The mill we are working for can only afford that right now. As it is this is a 2 million dollar capital improvements project.

question for you @BillybobLockwood ...... is equipment cheaper in the States?
just looking at this which has come up in FB MP -- equates to £984 sterling, which I doubt you'd get that for in the UK?
