we have a new engcon guy in the area . Angus has been too busy on the widespread stuff to cope so he's been passing it on to John Alison . He has put the valve on the duck to switch over for grab and is also doing some electronic / hydraulic trickery on the hitachi . His work is exceptional. He will likely be there before me so I will get a report very soon .

wasn't quite the start I'd planned for the day yesterday
Mower'd made an odd noise last time out, so thought I'd pre-empt any mid cut crises (and give the deck a clean - again) 'fore I got under way
used to be able to just pick the deck onto the bench - not any more - am way more circumspect about odd shape lumpy bits .. so having dragged the deck out from under the Countax, enlisted Lil' Jake's assistance -- after I'd lifted the haner off the bench
sure enough .....
so gave it a new belt and a good going over ....
amazing just how much collects in a few cuts ...... totally scraped out, blades off, polished and re-edged ... wouldn't want to be in the way of the blades after a touch up with the grinder
back together and grass massacred ..... always get the best cut of the season after a good service ... lawn looked great enough to get a comment from the boss
so .. by the time i'd finished all that, had some lunch, etc., the main event was late kicking off
sussed a mount for the 6 x 2 diverter
chopped the bits to length and got 'em tapped,
cleaned up and nailed together
then started to look at the plumbing, having sorted out as many short hoses as I could find, in me piles of misc. pipes
then realised I'd gotten the one in the way of the 1/4" FF QCs for the output, so had to have a re-juggle .... couldn't find any 1/4" hoses long enough so had to cobble a couple together
having trial-ed it I had the lines for the bucket ram the wrong way round to give me the right op. for the Haner (and the bucket crowd, when I tried that too) ...
small 12 volt battery supplied the 6x2 temporarily ....
so it was yet another re juggle on the oily bits ... the two short hoses feeding the bucket ram are damned near right, but the one's a tad perished, so needs replacing and a couple of inches adding, instead of the multiple fittings I had to use to get the length. the original ram lines seem content in their routing, so really it's just a case of some 1/4"s for the grab lines and might get a couple of shorty,s made to take the QCs off the 6 x 2 block and down the dipper 6-8" and make a mount plate for them under the breaker QC ... hell of a job to get at them for a disconnect where they are, without investing in some of those fancy QC pliers, which I should've done ages ago, but the VA-r's fittings never have been problematic, so never bothered. It'd also allow me to make up some sort of guard plate for the 6x2, if the QC,s were else where.
took a bit of head scratching and fannying about, but it's there or there abouts for now - oil wise ... now need to sort the leccy bit
........ and a short vid for you all ... bit shaky to start, as was leaning my hand on the canopy, 'til I realised it was vibe-ing the phone
was too late to put this up last night ... kids today, so early start, especially, as we found first thing, when we got asked to collect 'em from Vicki's .... she seems to have whatever Pam had at the weekend ... and they're all 'sposed to be off camping for the weekend .. hope she improves today - kids'll be well disappointed, if they can't ...... will have to find me tent and stick it on the lawn otherwise

Mower decks are brutal on V-belts because the tensioner usually runs on the back of the belt forcing a "reverse bend". If you can get them, it's worth running the kevlar (aramide) "k" belt that run a helical weave allowing them to be a lot more flexible.

agreed .... but what's on there has done 3 maybe 4 seasons ... I think a lot of these went to gap and a plant and probably Travis and jewsons so had all the options removed.

the breaker circuit is one way, non proportional Dyl - on/off, so even using it to feed a Cetop to control direction it'd still not provide a proportional service
so ....
I used a diverter in the prop. bucket ram service - - get the grab control on the right stick at the press of a button - let go and it's back to bucket ram

I have a slightly older 801-5. Mine has two ports on the hammer valve block which is under the left foot side floor plate. I just ran a hose from the blanked off port to the dipper to get a two way non proportional service. I doubt it would be much use for a grab but works fine for me log splitter.
