dragged some bar stock out and cut some pins, retainer plates and got them drilled, then the retainer pin knocked out .. trial fit

I'd gotten everything fettled up when I had the genny up and running with the Kepp belt grinder (and caught the one pin on the edge of the belt ) so time to see if everything was gonna line up with my setting out ...

and it was time for tea ......
took me an hour to clear up and clean everything down after tea
so assembly's gonna be a mañana job ...
after I've had me hamster juice .. can't believe it's Monday again tomorrow, already ..... just do not know where the weeks go
so get it stuck together tomorrow and then it's time to get oily with some crafty plumbing for Lil' Jake ... tha's gonna be a job all on it's own

He might be back, but he had me confused with the unbolt and reboot rotate mechanism. He must be getting old. Young Druid would have made a rotator in the time it has taken Old Druid.

yeh Shaun, Druid's getting old and slowing down sadly .... my feet are dying this morning .. my collapsed left arch is killing me .... short 'back and fore' paces at the bench/machines kill it/really bugger it up - can barely stand.
the luxury of powered rotate would be lovely, but this is a tiny build, don't want to be increasing build heights or weight .. lil' Jake is just that - little.
can't go totally free rotate, with no rotary coupling to cope with the oily bits and this gives the option of at least being able to orientate the grab through 90 degs.
I considered a spring loaded lock, but at least this way I can 'lock it out' too ... got to position some 'stops' yet, so that if left free to spin/be spun, it won't come round too much and do for the pipework.
I'll get it together and then work out how much rotation I can get away with for the plumbing's safety.
then I have to get creative with the machines plumbing

Get some rock tape if you've got plantar. I'll send you a video later to strap it up. Worked amazing on mine

I’ve used a knock round shear once that wasn’t too bad, at end of the day anything is better than getting out of the machine and manual handling, which I guess is the object of having a grab.

I've a collapsed arch Boyo ... born with flat feet - wore arch supports 'til very late teens, when deemed no longer necessary and within a few years the left one collapsed - tried all sorts - one consultant wanted to fuse all the bones in my foot - at the risk of losing my driving license, I declined that, aside from the issues it would've given me walking.
An old school friend, who'd gone on to become a chiropodist made me some tailored supports again, many years ago and revolutionised my life .. days on my feet on concrete'd leave me unable to walk properly, daily, 'til then.
still wear them in work boots, but they'm about done for and Gary, who made them is no longer around to make any more - shot himself, about 8 years ago
my left ankle is ferked as it's turned over/in and they don't make new ankle joints.
if they'd just left me with flat feet in the first place it wouldn't have become the issue it has
I very often strap it up when it's bad, but doesn't cure the problem and often makes it worse when unstrapped, so I try to compensate and live with it, but days around the bench/machines, with short strides/quick turns/odd stances, really mess it up

Right - next bit ... 'nother late kick off ... 'bout to do me treatment and had a visitor, so were late doing it ..... however

got the pins assembled - nice and square

then went in search of me tub of grease nipples ..

had a job for two after i'd drilled and tapped a couple of holes in the right places

drilled and tapped a couple more holes elsewhere for me stops, having decided just how to achieve it ..

then it was time for the Caddy
centre pivot spigot first

so's I could get on with getting the cheeks fitted to the rotary plate

needed the spigot solid to get the set up right

I'd call that nice and square and not gonna move whilst it gets a few tacks ... having got it solid .. time for t'other side

and having tacked that some bracings were order of the day, 'fore it got any more hotness

which it did

took it apart to de-spatter it and clean it off , 'fore chamfering off the top of the centre spigot and welding the capture ring on

.. removed the braces after it'd all cooled down and I'd had a cuppa ... then dropped it on the haner

and it was tea time

Thank you and yes Giles ... will rotate through 180 degs (added some extra holes today) I also will install some stop pegs to stop it going any further and looking at it tonight it could be left free rotating, once the stop pegs're installed, as the plumbing should cope, with sufficient length to suit, allowed for. If you look back in the earlier posts you should see how it works

You're a skillful chap! Just buying the correct fittings & connecting the hoses was about the limit of my capabilities.

A very generous gift voucher arrived in my email earlier for 'The Walnut Tree' - world renowned eatery we have locally, with a very nice message from Vin - really wasn't necessary boyo, but thank you -- we'll think of you as we tuck in at some future juncture ....

might go there for our 'welding' anniversary, in July ......
oh and the Co-op's gotten the booking fee sorted

This arrived today buddy ! It got to Angus's yard just before Gary arrived with the duck on the low loader , how's that for timing!
I've not been up to see it yet as I still can't drive and Mrs P is driving me about . I'm itching to get up for a look but I need to use the lifts wisely . Had a site meeting this morning and she had to wait an hour for me so I don't want to push my luck and ask for another 15 mile lift and another hours wait.
'The duck is getting an all fluids change after its stint in Altnaharra and also hopefully try the grab out. Pics to follow .
