Anyone came across this device?
One of my colleagues has one and the day i was with him it was pretty impressive for small scale works.
Its an app you put on your phone and clip it to a device on a stick. It drew the area we surveyed in real time on the phone screen and he emailed it off..
It also marked up level changes on the drawing..
Interesting device, but I can't help but wonder why -
Pretty well every smart phone has a GPS and an accelerometer built in as standard.
With those two, all you need is the software (app) to put it together and display the path in what ever way suits the application.

There are plenty of farming apps like this. One I played with allow you to enter your sprayer boom width and then (particularly if you drive your tractor like clarkson) shows you where you sprayed twice and where you missed.
Not suggesting these are in anyway interchangeable, only that you've already got the hardware - just need to find an app that will display in a useful way.

3,4,5 rule is so simple to use for squaring out but SOH CAH TOA is occasionally needed
used to use sin/cos/tan a lot setting out staircases/fire escapes ... scientific calc was so handy

I had to swat up on Pythagoras when I did my electrical training.
My god a2+b2=c2 is so useful for setting things out.

For my hnc we started to do logarithms and all the complex trigonometry That really was way more than I ever did at school and I always liked maths.

3,4,5 is handy and quick but I'll either use the easy square or just use the calculation
√((Length X length)+(width X width))
It's a bit late now but when I was buying a new laser I wanted to try and find one that could set corners but gave up and bought a spectra ll

got one, i backed it on kickstarter.

While its not accurate enough for where mm precision is needed, for landscaping its bang on. Once you get the knack of it its surprising usefull. Just make sure you get the staff with it.
