Hey all,
Thought i would do a bit of an update.

started the new year tearing down a house in town with my venerable 321! Fun tear down that turned out to be WAY more material than i could have ever predicted! who knew 2000 SQF could end up being 115 tons of demo debris!

Meanwhile the boys have been hard at work getting more done on our Renton multifamily development. Getting walls, sidewalks and road grading complete.

After 2 years of renting. we also bought a new HAMM roller. The Hd8. What a dang handy size!! we've been using it for everything!
This week we started tearing down the last, and scariest of the failed walls at the development, and digging out the muck!


Lastly, My friend from St. Luise Missouri came in from out of town to look at a used liebherr Excavator they want to buy, and we made a day out of driving down to Oregon to have a look at it.

Hey All! Snuck out of the office this week and got to do some backhoe work! Scraping up an industrial yard and Re-Rocking it for pacific welding.

Started the week getting a bucket we ordered from norm engineering in Australia, Set up, and having a play about with it! Boy what a change this makes for the skid steer. Before, material was always spilling over, into the coupler, Pins, and bushings. Now this thing is a little monster! Almost don't need a small dozer when ya have one of these!

Then it was off to look at a Bridge we're going to repair for the historic railroad. Some amazing views here.

At renton, the guys are cruising right along, getting Wall 7 Built.

end of day Friday a mystery bucket showed up. What could this mean?

I'm amazed with the amount of skid steers running over their you had to look abroad for the right bucket

That bridge job looks interesting and a lovely place to work.....take a little fly rod for your lunch break .....whats the plan with it ?

I’ve modified skid buckets with raised mesh guards at the back, makes a lot of difference to keeping the hitch clean, and capacity without getting too heavy. Cat hitches aren’t the best imo, the newer hydraulic ones are muck traps and they’re soderoos to clean out and un-seize once the pins get stuck. Another issue I find is that standard Cat buckets on a Cat hitch don’t rack back far enough at ground level when you’re handling anything non-cohesive.

Those Norm buckets look much better constructed than any other 4 in 1 for skids/CTL’s. They do look a bit heavy, though.

It is Pretty Odd, But there is nothing even comparable here. Yet.....

We're Replacing 10 Ties with the Huddig, and doing some other integrity work on it. The River is heaven. May have a swim after work on that job!!!

Mate, coming from the fellow with a track loader! I'd love to try a 953!! You're spot on about the coupler and Pins, it's almost unbearable, Much just gets in them like crazy.

The cat CTL's have a really nice fit and finish, But as you say, I find the geometry lacking to. The deer's aren't quite as Plush, but seem to hold up much better. The norm Bucket is pretty alright, and not too heavy. at least on this 317G, The machine doest get much tippier with it, despite its huge capacity. I'd really like a bucket the same size as norms, but not a 4 in 1.

Yea, I agree, Bit its better those than loader arm bushings.

953 are amazing, silky smooth and very fast! They do demand the right job, untouchable when they get going!!

this is how I modified some of our buckets. 2-1/4” box, 3/16” wall thickness, and 1/4” thick mesh. About the same capacity as the Norm, probably just over half the weight, and a quarter of the price. (Don’t get me wrong, I still like the Norms). You can pile in as hard as you like and nothing comes over the top, and what falls through is so small that it falls straight through the hitch.

Don’t know about the Deeres, but on Cats there’s an option to bolt counterweights on the side just behind the sprockets. I’ve run Cats with and without and an extra 150 kg on the back it makes a lot of difference.

on edit, just seen them fitted on the 315.

Got a good chuckle out of that one!! It's slow, Underpowered, and laggy to use.

Con-Expo! Spent a few days at Con-Expo. Although I didn't see as much as I'd like, it was More than enough time in Vegas for me. There was some neat stuff to see, but overall i felt like the equipment portion was more show than real inovation in equipment, Especially in the electric sector.

I spent a lot of time with Huddig. Getting to know the owners and few Engineers and sales people. What a first class team. I saw a trailer made by Berklmans Welding, In Canada,I really like. I think ill look into building one myself, or buying one when funds allow. It's a big investment.


i Spent a little while with the boys from liehberr. I've been having a hard think about a 920 to replace our 321 cat.


Interesting case electric mini with the smallest Steelwrist to, and a nice engcon thumb bucket. Huddig gave me a nice Polo shirt to!
