Yeah fuse holders are prone to corrosion, there shouldn't be any 8.5V plus multimeter doesn't load the circuit. Check the relay pins too in the holders.Any problems just ask, I've looked after two of these machines with some age and exactly the problems you describe.

A question regarding the button on the gear change lever. I imagine this must somehow interrupt the drive momentarily to allow gear changes but I cannot see how the output cables from the button switch interface with shuttle drive system. Is anyone able to clarify please.
so no dump pedal on these then .. all on the gear stick button .... much like the dump button on me old 3CX front end lever

Or button on gear stick
Button on gear stick working ok allows gear changes no problem but am still unclear how it interrupts the transmission drive to allow the manual change to take place. Perhaps it overrides the forward reverse selector switch and frees off both drive clutches but cables from gear lever seem to head towards back of machine away from column switch if you are able to clarify how this button works would be much appreciated . Keeping me awake at nights :)

Dump operation is controlled by lever alongside driver seat. Gear stick button seems to interrupt transmission drive to allow manual shift of gears but have not been able to determine how button does this?? I was thinking that may be it overrides column switch output and opens both output clutches momentarily to allow manual change to take place. If you are able to clarify how gear stick button works would be much appreciated giving me sleepless nights:)

'Dump' in this instance infers dumping/disconnecting the drive, same as the button does, to facilitate a gear change .... it basically disconnects (as you thought) the power to the shuttle solenoids which engage the fwd/rev drive, so is effectively emulating the neutral position on the column selector switch ... a Thwaites has a small pedal where you'd expect to find the clutch, as you find in JakieB's 3CX (least it was in my '87 site-master) ... yours obviously has it on the stick (3CX also had a 'dump' / disconnect button on the front end control lever to disconnect drive, if required when loading/emptying/closing the front bucket)

Thanks very much for that explanation. Much clearer now I will sleep tonight :) :) :)

Hi
I hope you might be able to help
I have a ex plant hire barford sxr 3000
This has been I great dumper and until recently was my best starting piece of plant
Firstly about a month ago it would not start on the key so a jump lead to the starter solenoid sorted that , turn the key to on and a short touch of the jump lead to bat plus and fired up straight away
Unfortunately now it will no fire at all
I suspect the fuel cut off solenoid is not acting as there is no fuel to the injectors

most of the wiring has been previously butchered what colour is the wire to the cut off solenoid

Any other suggestions

Thanks

I'd be starting at the ignition switch and maybe replacing it ... the crank position presumably died initially and now perhaps your live feed to the stop solenoid has succumbed to a similar fate ... 's a reasonable and relatively cheap place to start from
