got to have a rant ... and dare say others'll have plenty to say too .....

BB's been off and on like a whore's draws the last two weeks ... flipped tonight and tried calling their 8 to 8 helpline ..... every option eventually ends in a message saying they've just sent me a whatsapp link to help to try and sort it myself --WTF ... o_Oo_O
I don't have bloody whatsapp .....
so tried to find an email address in all my correspondence with/from them - NADA ...
had to search on line (when it reloaded) and eventually found 'an' address
**** knows if it's the right one, but it's head of customer services, so hopefully it might provoke some sort of response ....
if it doesn't ... I'm away to 4G

and the cause of the rant .... article on ITV Wales tonight, watching after the kids'd departed ..... they've just spent millions and many man hrs installing 7kms of fibre optic ....... to the summit of ****ing Snowdon .. WTF for FFS o_O:mad:🤬.... we can't even get a reliable 2mbs here
So much for looking after the environment then. They are a shower of s**t

finally managed to place order for fftp today, this house has been called 2 different names in the past it was laundry flat now (for over 30 years that i know of) called garden flat , fftp is available to laundry flat but would mean changing phone number as it is registered to garden flat which according to openreach would not be getting fibre taken a very helpful guy from BT to convince openreach that they were the same house in fairness to the BT guy he tried various ways to change it over last 4 weeks and would text to say when he would phone me and always phoned when he said he would
we are about 4 miles from the "green box" and last phone on the line so currently cannot get internet over the phone line so fair play to openreach with the help of Scottish government grants to put fibre up 1/2 mile up farm track to serve 3 houses
When we were in back end of Scotland last year the amount of open reach vans we seen in the middle of nowhere was mad. Even said about it at the time

 serious bucks that .... neighbour's paying 31 quid a month and has 40mb ..... has a little dish on his pine end .... got did by a local outfit, who sorted everything for him .... apparently there are grants to be had for the installation costs, so his monthly is all it cost him
This is what I’m on . We have a local company Cromarty Firth wireless . F……in brilliant. Local people run it . 35 a month when I do have an issue they answer the phone and talk to me . It’s a real novelty . They ask what’s up and then they fix the problem . The only time it struggles is if we have a big storm or snow clouds they can block the signal but it’s not often enough to worry about . Leaving BT was a great day and has done my blood pressure the world of good! I even took the over head cable off my house and wrapped it around there pole !

have eventually managed to speak with 'Selena' in the faults team this morning ... after a 16 minute wait on hold  🤬
yes she can see a history of intermittent drop outs going back weeks and she'll raise a fault report and get back to me, after she's had a read of the account history. As I said, to her, there'll be a hell of a lot of it .... last session was 13 or 14 engineers to get us a reasonably steady service. Also informed that this is their last chance, before getting binned off - which will involve removing all cabling, the bloody pole on the side of my drive and re-routing the other customer s off it ... seemed to focus attention.

I was wondering this can you serve notice on a BT pole? Must be happening with the advent of fibre underground and dead BT poles?

I think bt are one of the worst for statutory powers. Ie most powerful. Electric is another matter plenty of stories of poles or whatever on ground then new owner realises they don't have a wayleave or whatever they need. Can usually result in cheap connection or £

I am lucky for broadband using Now not using fibre canceled that and went standard and got broadband all the calls for £18 per month and running 18mbs Got a big cop shop which is norfolk suffolk head of cyber so we have a very good service when on fibre running at 75mb. Read a report from BBC yesterday that all bbc programs will be on line only by 2035 and all transmitter will be closed.

Should have seen Cornwall when we got the grants as poorest region of UK a few years back for full fiber would say a good 90% has fiber if they want to sign up to it now
Had guys from all over the country from bt/ openreach down here for months

We have fibre direct to the house. I know the pain that less than 1mb on BT means!!
We tried Avonline Satellite but found it didn’t work with the wife’s work VPN and also struggled with banking websites.
We had 4G Vodafone for a while but found we would eat day cards for fun!! We used to buy data only cards.
We must have the 4G router here somewhere.

We are worst of all worlds, gigaclear have always got at least one route out of town closed and another traffic light controlled so have wasted time and fuel working around them.
Our copper based system can't keep up with demand but isn't economic to upgrade due to the presence of full fibre so close. We live in an area full of small businesses run from home who struggle with Internet connection and to rub salt into the wounds our council tax tells us how much we are paying towards the wealthy incomers from London with their big houses in the country.

how do you mean? Surely they are in higher tax bands?
only goes to a particular level Doob .... after that you could live in a £10m mansion and still pay the same as someone in a £600K property 🤬 🤬 .... we're one band down from the top level here .... place up the road is on the market for £5m and is only a couple of hundred more quid/yr than us .... we're £306/mth  and get sod all for it, compared to a town dweller

We get a breakdown from Gloucestershire Council showing us a rough idea of how our council tax is spent. Gloucestershire and Herefordshire are in a partnership along with gigaclear to roll out full fibre to rural areas and this appears as an itemised part of our bill.
It's not so bad for me as my Internet use is not massive and the buyers of all the rural properties do spend lots on building works 👍
I do know people who work from a home office who find the painfully slow Internet is a real pain 😒 and they are definitely irked by seeing the big spending mainly benefitting the already wealthy.
