that looks 'exciting' work .. not a lot of room for error with that on the dipper
It’s fine so long as you keep the weight where it’s needed. Makes it much easier to go cross carriage on slopes like those photos.

Basically it’s only if you were a moron that you’d be in trouble with it, otherwise it’s a help having a variable position counterweight!

can't see them trees surviving long, buried like that .... lovely job though Stu (y)
Depends, I've seen/ dug out stumps of trees which have been filled in around and ground level raised by about 5 foot and they had sent roots out at higher level. Made digging out a kin nightmare when you thought you'd dug all round and got all the roots to find another load 5 ft further down.

Exactly keep the knocker uphill and the blade downhill and you shouldn't end up on the "oops" thread🤣

Replaced yet another bollard around our local war memorial today, ready for tomorrows service. How people keep crashing into it I don't know, I must do at least one a year.

I had to go out at 1 o'clock in the morning a couple of years ago as someone had narrowly missed the actual memorial but hit a piece of stone laying on the ground which had been inscribed with names from more recent conflicts. It was about 1mx 1.2m by 150mm thick. They had hit it so hard they had pushed it into the middle of the road. We had to put it back before some unsuspecting car hit it. As you wouldn't see it on a dark road

Managed to get a load done pushing site towards completion no one else on site to distract or get in the way. Did more today than I have all week partly due to other jobs or paperwork but also seems to be way with no lunch or brew or other ppl dictating the pace.

Ready for turf in courtyard now

The lovely pile of light dusty soil we had in august is now claggy wet sticky but no stones in it

Nice one, doing your bit for the "lads" is a very satisfying service.
I had to go out with power washer one year as some twats had chucked red paint all over ours 🤬🤬🤬
