Way overpriced.
Way overpriced.
would imagine they're pretty stable to work out of as long as the tracks're well plantedLocal gang have one for ash die back where it's perfect. Mind you they tow behind a tractor![]()
Yeah it's an 8t machine minus a cab with only 10m reach the 32m ones are only on a 7.5t chassis and the outriggers arnt very bigwould imagine they're pretty stable to work out of as long as the tracks're well planted
Very very similar to what I had…..but @fred is right about needing very level ground!!Here you go towable 4x4 on inflatable tyres and a decent basket capacity

There have been at least two sold in the UK. Having seen them in the flesh they are scary as s**t, but they do rough uneven terrain and have a huge lift height and outreach. I’m guessing they want a few quid a day hire rate though. Self drive may be interesting.
I’ve always thought they look a bit of a pig’s ear of a machine - surely the majority of any difficult terrain a spider can get across requires the use of the arm? Not an option with one of those. There have been at least two sold in the UK. Your looking at it from the wrong angle though, it's not about the terrain a spider can cross but the fact it can go where no other cherry picker/access platform can. Still don't make it justifiable though.I’ve always thought they look a bit of a pig’s ear of a machine - surely the majority of any difficult terrain a spider can get across requires the use of the arm? Or there's no other way or machine which can do the job. It's the same as the grapple saw thread. It's not about doing something noone else can do. It's about convincing the clipboard with the cheque book that they can't afford not to use you
but still very restricted on capacityCan get track kits for the big boom lifts
That was my thoughts too.I’ve always thought they look a bit of a pig’s ear of a machine - surely the majority of any difficult terrain a spider can get across requires the use of the arm? Not an option with one of those.
looks tidy enough that, but a 'concrete' machine - zero ground clearance and very narrow wheels ... doesn't look to have done a great deal/had a hard life -- no mention of VAT eitherBeen eyeing up cherry pickers as my roof needs a lot of slate maintenance the next few years and every time I go up with a ladder to fix 1 slate I seem to break another 3. The scissor lifts look fine for doing gutter work etc but problem is they only operate on one plane, I think you would kick yourself if you needed to do a job that required even just a small amount of reach, like working on a chimney stack or whatever, and also as mentioned the fact the ground needs to be flat is a pain in the arse, that would probably only be suitable for 50% of jobs in reality.
There's a JLG articulating boom lift near me that I spotted but doubt I'll take the plunge yet, allows 227kg lift, might be more suitable, albeit not towable..
As you are a company you will need to be on top of all the LOLER related stuff as well I presume? The 2nd hand bargains tend to come when stuffs missing these certs and they can't be arsed getting them!

for what your scaff expenditure has been .. and the delays in getting it erected, any time spent prepping ground for a scissor'd be well spent, if you had your own scissor liftBeen in plenty of booms owned a few tower ones and yeah they’re great for what they do but most the lift work we do is stone work. Plus we are a firm of big boys 100kg plus abd add in say stone lintel etc and booms just can’t cut it or are wobbly as feck.
The scissor lifts with legs offer best working platform for what we do to do it safely and securely. If I need a boom I’ll hire in a very big genie like we use for steel fitting.
Spent over £20k on scaffold this year alone reckon could have done a few Jobs with just scissor instead and not waited weeks for scaffolders to turn up.
Doing the metal sheds scissor is better with bigger work area and can lay blocks off them if you have to.
Working out a basket on slate roof isn’t easy either not designed to be lay down in them trying to replace a slate etc designed for waist level and above work
