Ive looked so far at cranab grapple saw and also a exac-one grapple saw, there all priced around £20,000 to £25,000. The Westetech and Vosch are from £30,0000 to £47,000. Thats big money well it is to me. wanted to know anyone's experances on them. Ive been using an eact-one tree shears for past 5 years and removed a lot of ash die back. Whilst its a great bit of kit and less to go wrong you are limited to what you can cut. Ive see people use grapple saws and thought thats the way to go for my type of work.. Chatted to a nice chap who has a cranab one and he said he had no issues or problems and been using it for over a year and would not go back to tree shears now...
Any advice or thought would be appreciated.

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I have a Cranab log grapple which i bought s/hand and have used for handling some serious rocks with ..... built by the Swedes to last ... great piece of kit and very well built

Just watch issues with chain-speed (and subsequent safety zones because of the potential for chain-shot) which might have relevance if you are working roadside etc.
I’d also price up GMT if I were you.

If you go on lgp eddies social media pages he has chapter and verse on grapple saws. I know some on here have a few difference of options with him but he has a lot of info available on a large selection of the saws.

Its pretty much gone from Instagram, you could search him under lgpeddie and there is just 2 posts left, everything else has ben removed. It wouldn't surprise me if he were to rub some people up the wrong way based on how some of his posts come across. I think he's still quite active on LinkedIn.
I spoke to a few people about grapple saws at the APF a few weeks ago, looks like straight grabs with saw cassettes run from £13k upwards, I quite liked the look of the new OMEF one, I have a quote of just under £17k for that one with hitch brackets & changeover valve etc.
I was very impressed by the GMT with the TTC system where it has the ability to lock the swinging pivots, but at £30k plus its definitely not something we could justify right now.
Interested to hear peoples opinions on grapple saws in general too, its not something I have used but do think it would be a very handy bit of kit, especially with the amount of Ash I see dying off everywhere!

No thats Ben Nicholson's. He has a yard in the next village over to where I live. That's the little one it's been replaced by one twice the size. I encountered it coming round the corner one day when they where roading it to a job. Nearly drove over my pickup

You'd want a large pipeline of work to jump in now IMHO- the big boys have it pretty much all sewn up, and once this dieback rush is over your shears will be ample for hedge reductions etc.
