There’s the van he hitThat is a truly terrible piece of journalism.
And if that's all the details that the dvsa give out then how is anyone meant to improve. And average Joe's estimation of a lorry's speed should not be acknowledged as 90% of car drivers seem to think lorry's are going to fast when they are parked up with the engine off.
He may have been going to fast but that should be witnessed by the tacho.
What was it???There’s the van he hit

Sorry. I should have been clear. What make and model was the van. I can’t recognize it from the pic.![]()
Driver nearly killed by bulldozer blade in horror crash
Peter Knight was responsible for a catalogue of failings which caused the smash near Okehampton in 2020www.devonlive.com
Devon Live is a horrible site.. but the article reads as though another motorist cut him free before the emergency services turned up.Yeah it’s all well and good making a joke about it, but the fella in the van was extremely lucky to be alive after that!!
Better article.. https://www.okehampton-today.co.uk/...nce-over-near-fatal-bulldozer-incident-564172
no point sending him to prison but surely his operators licence should be permanently removed as well?Devon Live is a horrible site.. but the article reads as though another motorist cut him free before the emergency services turned up.
Driver of the lorry should be banned for longer than 3 years and never allowed to drive anything bigger than 3.5t again. Blatantly incompetent, not even a high vis jacket hanging off the end of the blade
Pretty sure he knew that he needed an escort vehicle and police approved route but decided to risk it….
Thanks for the offer, but where we are using now seems good, so we will stick with it.That's naff...

From here "The bulldozer was only held down by chains"
doesn't get any better than suitable sized chainsFrom here "The bulldozer was only held down by chains"
From Here https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...e-operator-guidance#steel-machinery-and-plant "Chains are used for heavy loads like steel, machinery and plant equipment"
People will read that and think you a cowboywhen they see you chaining something down
That is a better constructed article although some clarification on the chains is needed as to why they are not suitable. Had he used the wrong size where they the wrong angle to allow a secure restraint or old fashioned dogs rather than the ratchet type. It stills seems that although the dvsa claim they are their to educate they fail miserably to do so,instead intent on punishment, as is witnessed daily by the social media posts of the dvsa and commercial vehicle policing units
I think the tacho fiddling and the lack of wide load route plan and escort is the big issue? That is a better constructed article although some clarification on the chains is needed as to why they are not suitable. Is it just an optical illusion or has it only got 1 tyre on the off side rear.Hopefully this lad gets pulled for no sheet
