One from today had a 8.5 ton hammer on the machine today. Sat next to pedestrian barrier to show the size.

My usual run of luck at the moment, it runs bang on centre and right down the length of the trench only another 8m to go

Electric that tees and feds two properties. They were told that all services run down the other side of the property before we started.

The covering over the pipe is soft too.
Went and hired a cat but it didn't pick it up, but typically it had a service needed light on it, Genny signal picked up up right down the centre of the trench.
Next door neighbour turned up later and reckons it's live. As usual better to treat as live and not just horse it out

Get them to put something like the kettle on and pull some current through it,then try your cat again, you'll get a better reading!

Had a guy out today he looked at it and couldn't work it out, later on another guy came out and it's live and will be sorting it tomorrow at some point as it was diverted before so shouldn't be running through the building.

Also forgot to add on the original post this cable was underneath the original footing for garage that was there about 300mm deeper than the bottom of footing and by under the footing I mean the full 8m length not perpendicular crossing under it 😵

that could've been interesting, if you weren't being so careful ;) ....
had a house once that I found two extra gas supplies into ... no meters, just soldered cap ends on old lead coming out the floors/walls ... could've been exciting, if I'd gone through one and sparked it .... Gas guys said it was pretty unusual to find one, let alone two supposedly dead lines that weren't  and hadn't a clue as to WTF they came from :giggle: .... should've kept stuum and had free gas ;)

....... before or after you spent the extra time carefully avoiding chewing it up :giggle:
They did two visits yesterday both office guys and had a call saying they would be on site for 10am and if we could dig it out for them to deal with it. We worked carefully around it trying not to disturb it too much and tied it up at the height it was laid to not add pressure to it,and had most of the trench dug out by the time they arrived on site.
Guy jumped in and you would have thought he was wrestling an anaconda the way he was yanking and scraping it. Tested and no live so it was cut.
Would have had the footing dug yesterday if they had sent a jointer out to look at it rather than a planner

Had a feeling it was dead, as when they had the feed moved from a different location (around the new rear extension rather than through it as it was laid) the main was apparently at least 2" thick and plastic coated. All tails from the T were dead. Main thing is, better safe than sorry.

Best part was he was trying to tell us around 6 weeks till they could do it and if it blows could be in the region of 10-15k if they have to renew all house back to the main
