As far as I'm aware you only need 2 wheel straps to transport a vehicle however the have to be a diagonal pair, ie front left, rear right.

As for use of chains on a little tractor that what probably weighs 2t at most??
I know....but both these were stopped on my patch so I'll be doing druid style strapping.😎

Nah as he says show willing is my motto...
How long does it take to throw a ratchet on FFS.
Like the prat I saw coming off M6 at J13 few weeks back. Old wooden deck car flat trailer with JCB 8014 on and full assortment of buckets...1 of those thin 500kg type ratchets over the seat?? That's it. Nowt but fresh and a prayer holding his buckets on...they'd all slidden about as well.. twat

Id like to have seen plods efforts 🤣🤣😳
To be fair they will of followed the "Best practice" pushed by the likes of Lynch and Flannerys..... Individual chain and binder to each corner.

Reality is with a compact tractor it wants one on front and one on the arse.
There is also the argument that small plant and tractors should have 4x wheel straps as the suspension effect of the tyres can loosen straps or chains.

I usually do exactly that one front weight area and rear nice and low..? If it's a long run throw one over the middle as an offering to the gods of armco

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: in the last nigh on 50 years I have transported some pretty random sh1t on trailers, trucks, etc. and have NEVER lost anything ..
used Hemp/poly/nylon ropes, ratchets and dogs & chains ... you use rope and you secure every pass at a hook - one breaks, the rest are still secure .. get a ratchet let go and that's it .... when i started tying tish down there weren't any ratchets.

brought a 4t x 10ft high, 7ft radial arm drill home from Poole in '76 on a TK flat ... ... was some tying job but it never moved a muscle and that was mostly hemp, with chains and dogs on the base. sooooooome where I have a pic of it :giggle:
it got craned on and and I thought as it went on -- "tha's light?" got it all tied down and ready to roll and the moment I let the clutch out to go, the slippers on the arse end settled and she rocked a couple of feet side to side :oops:o_O:sick:
took a few moments to regain my composure and after checking I still had springs to come home with, left (have never forgotten the way that settled that day) ... 's along drive in a TK with that sort of lump on the back. .... got passed by several traffic cars that day, but it looked the part and they sailed on past.:giggle:

I would take this photo to court as evidence that my landrover was secure unlike the MOD's crane..... View attachment 38348
well if he'd dropped his jacks onto the deck and taken the weight off the crane's suspension's hydraulics it might not have jumped off :ROFLMAO:
truck obviously came to a blinding halt with a 28+t anchor saying "whoa boy"
poor little Terex
all the gear -no idea
