Sheeting of loads trailers and transits

Looking to clarify before the situation arises

I run rd with my ifor tipper trailer on with mainly caged sides on, I’ll sometimes put stihl saws and shovels loose on there with say 1 ton dumper.

If I’ve got the cages on do I then still need a net over top or my big cover on.

Understand with mesh sides off and loose load ie sand it’d need a sheet and with mesh sides off and rakes etc they’d need netting.

Trying to decide if I need a net and tarp or just tarp sheet

I’m big fitter cover is a ball ache to get on on your own and when left on end up with two huge ponds of water that if I don’t tip it and drain them would rip the cover.

Mudfords do a net, around £20, its what I've got on my little truck an use it on the grab lorry too. I've put some big bungee cords on it and you can always get it nice and tight with them

I think Rory summed it up nicely in the fact that if you point out your case then they should back down on their silly rules!

If the load is lower than 6" from the top and unlikely to blow out I'd not be worried

Can't you just carry a couple of bungie straps?? I always try to as I get fed up of the noise of shovels sliding up and down when there is nothing else on.
Also my colleagues have a tendency of snapping the black sticky out bit of Stihl saws by letting them slide around on there side leaving no dust suppression

They are really clamping down on anything without a net/cover on it, going wayyyy over the top.
Showed up a grab lorry with a neigh on level load of breeze blocks, loaded very tidy and safe imo, they shafted the fella! More chance of the bloody wing mirror falling off!

Trouble is of people pay the roadside fines they will only get bolder.

So the loadbearing curtain whatsits on curtain sider...you need a full load from head to tail to be legit and not need straps obvs..firm we use lad said their night trunk was 1 pallet down...screwed him royally as that means the other 31 euros should have individual ratchets not even fly overs as they over 300kg or whatever it is. Jobswirths.

Rishi ain’t getting a sniffy at the rule book!!

The discussions over hours, diary’s and load restraint would be funny if it wasn’t serious!!

You do have to question why the rules are so complicated. Easier to catch someone for a motoring offence that catch a real criminal!!

I have 10 or more on ladder rack

It’s more DEWALT boxes or boxes of mdpe water fittings etc shovels generally go in truck

Ifor do do divider for the tippers as well
