I'm trying to think like that. But I just know that the first time I have to take a day off to replace a pipe or something, I'll be kicking myself for not changing it for £10k!

Even doing the work myself, downtime is still expensive. But I've started down that route now. New tracks and a bucket pin/bush set for the E27 have arrived.

I'm thinking that I might end up being sat around a lot over the next year or so! This won't just be a recession, it's looking like a depression.

When everyone gets through their backlog of work it's going to be interesting.

I dunno. Many will be sat around perhaps but I reckon if your good at what you do and particularly with your level of diversity there will always be work out there. Might be eating my words in a year's time but I'm feeling optimistic even if some of the fat has to be trimmed.
Maybe I've just been lucky but to me it's almost a given to expect at least 4000 hrs out of a 3 tonner without too much hassle. Maybe a a set of tracks and a few hoses in that but my old 2.8t I sold at 5200 hrs and it needed tracks, hoses and a thermostat in that time. Wasn't on an easy life either I've almost come to expect boring reliability from them now as a result.

I'm a bit the other way re diversity.... we have been very diverse over the years and can go that way again if needed but last 10 years less so - I've said it before that compared to specializing it's fooking hard work trying to do a million and one things, we do water treatment.... got to have it, it's not like a driveway or landscaping etc.

Started the strip down of my next job(our own building) been delayed 7 months due to bat licence and survey issues.. took two ridge tiles off and out pops a bat! Glad In some respects as I had to pay a guy £540 to come and watch us start the strip down! So at least he kinda did something by putting said bat into a the batbox what a money making racket though!!

Ps I didn’t just turn the building upside down and tip everything off it
