My new pony!

As friend of our has a Nissan Leaf and now a Tesla I decided to offset their low carbon footprint!! So two weeks ago I was on one of the four online classic car auctions and I put a bid in thinking i had no chance low and behold I won this little pony. It has only done 33.000 miles and is as clean underneath as it is on top in fact I actually polished the suspension arms and the wheel arches. Well pleased!

" Transport for London has recalled 90 electric buses after a fire involved one of them on Sunday. The precautionary measure has been decided while the company investigates causes of the blaze, that happened at Potters Bar depot in Hertfordshire, run by Metroline. Six buses were damaged. Due to the suspension of the e-bus fleet, disruption will involve around five routes.

Quick bit of maths suggests if you keep a vehicle less than 6 years it is more environmentally friendly to buy petrol.
The total life of the vehicle doesn't really matter its the first owners usage span. As they constantly buy new.

This is exactly what it looks like to me. There too many flaws in the logic for it to be anything but a power grab IMO.

at 3t empty, by the time you got Giles, his mate and their sarnie boxes on board you'd have about 2kg of payload
gonna have to be some serious updating of licensing in the UK if they want leccy pick ups to replace diesels

Domestic electrical generation is the only use of duty rebated fuel used in an i.c.e that someone NOT engaged in agriculture, forestry or horticulture can legitimately claim.
I've not seen anywhere in the guide lines that agriculture can't use red in generators and it is in the guidelines that a machine normally used on the farm can use red for operations not normally permitted if it remains on the holding.
I can't see any reason why someone couldn't recharge their car at home off a genny on red and they'd probably want to put it on a trailer and take it with them to Glastonbury, so offering generator hire at £50.00 /hour on site sort of makes environmental sense
I'm finding the rules as idiotic as anything else supposedly making us greener
