Of possibly they just don't give a flying duck
would make sense .... no regular/self respecting truck driver'd perform like thatYeah I thought that too
I've loaded a fair few 8 wheelers resently with big pieces of concrete with reinforcing mesh everywhere. Not 1 driver ever got out and looked at the load before they hurtled off.Lazy wagon drivers, the decent ones lift the body abit when 3/4 the way through loading, drop it when full and pull out the way before you can get the next bucket full in![]()
Passed a 8weeled on the m60 with its back door half open, wedged on the locking mechanism, looked like 10mm/dust covering the road! Lazy bugger never checked his door was latched properlyI've loaded a fair few 8 wheelers resently with big pieces of concrete with reinforcing mesh everywhere. They have camera's to check it's shut or you would see the load being lost with the cameraPassed a 8weeled on the m60 with its back door half open, wedged on the locking mechanism, looked like 10mm/dust covering the road! Lazy bugger never checked his door was latched properly![]()
I had an 8 wheeler come in with tailgate open, he’d no idea, or any idea where the Type1 was that he’d clearly lost on the way from the docks to me!
He started saying that there must be something wrong with the lorry, as the tailgate open warning light was off! When I tried explaining to him that the latches were shut, and that’s where the sensor was, he looked a bit bemusedin his mind ‘light off’ meant tailgate closed! When in actual fact it only means the latches are shut….
The other issue with these auto tailgates is a lot of drives don’t look at where they are tipping or what they are tipping on!
you jammy sodI took a drop side 8 wheeler out one day full of topsoil. I loaded it and all the sides where 100% up and locked. Got to job and one of the sides was down passenger side front one so not very visible in the main mirror and wide angle was smashed so never saw it drop or saw it was down. Followed the same route back and there was a perfect pile of topsoil between two parked cars. No tyre prints in the soil so must have dropped perfectly between the two cars without hitting either. Very lucky day
you jammy sod
antiluces are a PITFA ....
always keep a clip in at least one on every trailer I have (and used to on me trucks too) ....
lost a tailboard off a trailer many years ago when they both jumped open ... saw and heard it and stopped pretty quick - frightened the bloke behind .. trailer was empty, fortunately
outrigger legs got 3" of daylight under 'emOpps waiting to happen.

I'm thinking his ram is knackeredDoes do you think of the Forest Gump movie as these events unfold……..run Forest run!!
brown trouser momentI'm thinking his ram is knackeredchance cab will need a hoover out as well.
The latches had pinched the bottom of the door so held it open about 3”, I assume the incab tailgate light must go off the latch pressure so it obviously thought it was shutThere is a known problem with a certain brand of auto rear doors opening when loaded with free flowing material. Don't know if 10mm to dust would be a problem but 10mm shingle is. I don't know if they have updated the lock design yet
