Would you hire?

I bought a machine last year as we underwrote a tilt rotator for a manufacture who sadly let me down for exactly what your saying. There is a market for it and I would but very specialized hire in terms of operators only

It's your choice. Personally i can't see the point keeping it on if you're just doing bulk work the extra weight for a start off would be a drawback plus the loss of breakout. If i can bulk out with 3ft bucket without tilty its far faster than using a 2ft bucket with tilty. It isn't specifically hard ground but stoney ground you don't know where they are and often catch with corner of bucket. I just don't see why I'd want to put unnecessary pain through tilty.

My engcon grading bucket is 1.2 wide and do most bulking out with it , got engcon standard size buckets for certain widths that's needed and use the foot wide like a ripper to loosen up if a tad hard dig or breaker when needed had old one 8 years before exchanging for new one beginning of last year and it was still a good tight functioning unit
When I first had one you think you had to take it easy But cracked a boom and never an issue with the tilty

When you have one you won’t go back. I think the 2.7ton machine is an ideal size to get to see the benefits. It hasn’t come off mine in 3 years!!
The next one on the 8ton Kobelco will have a top hitch. There are times with that machine that we would want to drop if off!!

I find a tilt hitch numb on my 2.7t. I'm with Gaz on this, I'd want to be able to drop it off a lot. And I can't see a 2.7t would be happy with a twin hich arrangement.

I've definately hire to test it, but that woudl be just one hire, and I could just get a demo. Any time saved by having one on hire would be offset by the cost and time to collect/set up IMHO.

hire company near me had a post up on its instergram page couple of days ago asking if there would be any interest in a self drive hire tilty machine and from what i can see of the vote and comments there is a market for it around here in norfolk

Personally I think tilt rotators are suited to 2.5 tonne track machines up to 13 tonne and all size ducks . Much bigger than 13 tonne track machines should do more bulking work so tiltrotator not really cost effective on them . Smaller than 2.5 and I question if they can handle a tilt rotator . I certainly think my wee Volvo might struggle .
I would definitely hire a 2.5 - 3 tonne mini with a tiltrotator if it was nearby .
What do you think it should add to a weekly hire rate ?

I think that the extra cost of hiring it with a tilty would be significant. Surely in terms of outlay in comparison to the cost of the machine your going to be looking at approx 50% more spend so the hire rate would be 50% dearer
Most jobbing builders will want the cheapest machine they can get so that would rule them out. You’d be hiring to people familiar with tiltys who’d be prepared to pay the premium rate .

Cant see much if any demand on little machines, the price would be horiffic and no one would want to pay it. They are specialist bits of kit at the end of the day .

Figures don't tend to work like that, look at rollers nearly twice the cost of a mini digger and out for less money
