Work vans

I have a transit tipper that’s privately used. No way would I want one for work, especially full of tools as they’re far too easy to open and steal. Same goes for the vans. Next year I’d like to move my T5 on, and step up to a mwb crafter/man tge, maybe something like this www.eBay.co.uk/itm/284968834762

That’s a really nice van , same spec as mine apart from it has lower roof . I like to be able to stand up in the back .
Rare as hens teeth with the full 7000kg gross train weight . You won’t get one for the Giles budget though

I think an iveco is the way to go with that budget if you want 7000kg gross train weight . I really like the MAN TGE 180 I bought, it tows max capacity with ease and drives like a car but no where near available within your budget yet

I've recently got a high roof mwb sprinter but I went for it because I needed the 3.5t towing. I'd go for a low roof if I was looking for another as it's a pain not being able to have a roof rack and it can't go into macies 😭

It drives lovely though but it is a little thirsty it averages 27mpg but it does spend a lump of time with a trailer on

It's only got the little engine in (414?) And it definitely knows about it when it has the 3t digger behind.

I've had a issue with a nox sensor giving up and there aren't any replacements available

If it was for me might consider biting bullet leasing one etc but for the lads to abuse then think buying one be best

Configuration of this is good add a cut out or roof rack for pipe and be perfect. 180k though do a lot of miles in sprinters when I worked for bands was common to have 500k on the tour sprinters

Unfortunately you can't have a roof rack unless you also carry a scaffold tower to get up there to tie stuff on

On old van we used to climb up rear racking onto roof rack or have ladder on rear door?

I’ve just had a 180bhp MAN tge 4wd auto mwb high roof and I love it. Ended up with quite a high spec, was just under £36k plus vat (list was £53k plus vat but they then apply massive discounts). I prefer it to my Hilux tbh, nicer to drive, miles better to work out of.
Can only tow 3 tonnes but hasn’t struggled with anything I’ve put behind it yet…

Sprinter looks a nice bit of kit. A friend had a similar spec crafter for mobile HGV repair, original build cost would have been ££££ Downside is more to go wrong and less payload.

Talk to me about vans gents

I used to run a transit medium wheelbase medium height for the lads to use, had it racked out with everything we needed day in day out, sold it in Jan as I didn’t want to drive it everyday over my amorak.

So looking for a high roof, medium to long wheelbase. With decent tow ability for 3 big lads, plan is to rack 1 side all way then gave pod just behind sliding door.

Means you can have wet weather gear in bit by door, maybe fit a awning like bt used to have.

Also want something with bit of poke not the base spec Amazon vans, looking used though 6-10k ideally something that can also pull mini digger etc

So what make and models should I be looking at?

Sprinter 318,316?
Transit
Krafter
Man
Ducato/boxer

I guess it’s prime in the convert to motorhome territory as well
If need to pull 3.5t long wheelbase transit, don't make my mistake

Gues you can’t have tail lift and a towbar though, it would make getting the 160kg wacker in easier though

I have seen ones that sit inside the van . No idea what capacity.
Edit: this sort of thing although I have seen more compact ones.

Edit; couldnt find it on my phone but this is what i was thinking.
Be just the job for lifting the wacker or mixer single handed.
