winter clothes

sitting listening to it pissing down has made me think its time for new wet / cold weather gear.
anyone got any suggestions?
quite fancy a bib and brace set of waterproofs I think save getting a wet arse and front im thinking?
don't want to spend the earth but don't want sweaty stuff either.
something that's waterproof and something else for the cold I think will be best, normally get a few sets so always a dry set ready to go

For the cold you cannot beat micro fleeces
Unlike hoodies and the like they stay warm even when wet
You can get them for under a tenner from decathlon
I had a harkie jacket that is probably the best waterproof I've ever had although very hot it didn't let a drop of water in for 2years
I have replaced it with an unlined pulsar jacket as I wanted a zip up front which is good so far but not had it long

The other thing I find really helps is a fleece snood round my neck to stop water running down my neck

I always get a smug feeling in the winter when I'm warm and dry and some of the blokes I work with are miserable as sin and piss wet through

and these are the best witer hats I've ever had so much better than a beanie or normal willie hat
Keep the rain out your eyes keep your ears warm and don't constantly wriggle down and cover your eyes

If your out in the ground and suffer with the cold stick a Milwaukee heated hoody on under your main jacket. It’s very good , we use them in the yard it really helps if in and out a warm office or cab

Avoid the arbotec smock 6 blokes on the tree gang where I work have them and they all went like collinders after a couple of weeks
For the extra few quid my harkie was top notch for 2 years and the only reason I didn't get another was I wanted a zip up front

I've got the belly Hansen ludvika bib and brace, they are decent enough but don't stay dry all day in the rain, one has a busted zip and the new set the zip doesn't go all the way up on each side which is a pain as you could change the originals without taking your boots off.

Yes I've got the same they keep you drier than everything else without becoming a sweat box the zips on the side on mine didn't last long though as the zip is too fine. I gave up trying to change them with boots on after I got mud on the inside

im active so need to be able to breath. could be on a digger this morning then jump in wagon or on quad etc to do something or pop to the farm to catch a lamb.

that's why I thought bib and brace would be handy with high front so I don't get a wet belly - it hangs over a touch these days

If that's the case I don't think there are any waterproofs that won't make you sweat
Do you wear thermals come winter ?? They make it a lot more to be wet
Infact a bloke I worked with in new Zealand would wear thermals long johns with his canterbury shorts if it was cold or wet

Its a shame they've changed the design, as they would of done fine.
I realise a zip may not be 100% water proof, but I only need them on for a half an hour or so a time, a few times a day to stop me getting soaked in water / muck. Its a pain trying to take boots off (lace up) and pull the water proofs on in the cab, and no where outside without hopping around in puddles.
I`ve got a quilted waterproof overall, with full leg zips that are fine to take on and off, just they are too hot if any more than about 5 degrees.

welcome to my world although i would make you look small lol one of our sites requires all visitor's to wear fire proof overalls my company had to get 2 pair made for me as i am bigger than average shall we say only warn them about 5 times since then. Couple of years ago i managed to find some hi-viz lined bib and brace on ebay they are great for working outside on site but no good for inside work and would love to find a pair but no one seems to do them in 6xl or 7xl which i would need to match my height and build

I've a pair of Hellys ..... usually wear a 33" leg ... when i can find 'em and the Hellys are long-ish so'd say 34" ... will look tomorrow as to what size they are IIRC they're XL ... was 36 waist but after my pancreatitis episode in Feb. I'm back down to a 32/a loose 33 .... spent a very wet day in them Saturday and came home dry as
