I run a 5 year old Kobelco SK75 with traditional mono boom and an Engcon. Not sure I would be going new unless you well really stick some serious hours on it!!

I was subbing to a firm and I was on a tb260 & tb290 plenty of power and loads of grunt didn’t seem too noddy either reach on the 9 tonner felt the same as being on a js130 maybe just less really smooth to operate aswell

I would agree don't really need new but don't really want 5 year old machine with perhaps us dpf or addblue system a good 1 or 2 year old machine would do nice but I have only seen 3 year old plus machines available and 9 ton machines are not as common used as 8 or 8.5 t ones so there aren't a huge amount to pick from anyway . But cost wise a new one is within our budget .

Not that I know anything much about things bigger than 1t, but I’ve just spent most of the week on a Case CX85 with a fixed boom with 3000 hours on it on rubber tracks. They do a swing boom option. Zero swing (ish) but I think it would be nicer with some bigger steel tracks as it doesn’t like much mud and is a bit noddy. Overload alarm goes off everytime I fill the bulk bucket with stony soil. I’d have said the best new machine is the one that you get best dealer support on? If dealer is miles away it’s always going then little problems become big problems.

Overload alarm going off all the time sounds like you've got it in lifting mode, see if there is a switch with a crane hook on it
