Seen a tidy kub u55 with engcon for sale .... not sure about u55 as opposed to kx57 ?
U55 might be tippy and has considerably less power than kx57 🤔
I cant easily get any seat time in one what's people's thoughts or experiences?
Nowt worse than a noddy digger.

Cheers
Is that in France or UK machine?

The JCB I believe has been updated with a new model - the 60c which I have driven and thought it performed well even though the engine now shares the same block as my 8026! Good availability, my local dealer actually has one in stock at the moment.
The new Kubota -5's look really good in the metal but not driven one yet. No idea on availability but Japan is a long way away.
I don't like Hitachi's - Japan couldn't be far enough away for me when it comes to Hitachi minis - they can stay there!
Don't rule out the CAT 306 next gen. Although not driven one either, the other models in the range I have driven are very good. And cheaper to fit a tilty to as the controls are all electro proportional. But made in China so wear a mask at all times.
Bobcat/ Doosans are behind the curve with design and in cab. Paint falls off and they leak many oils. But 0% finance!!!
Wacker Neuson make a nice looking machine in this size and the beloved 8 ton below group on faceache love them.
Volvo ECR58 has just had an update too and look good. Always liked how Volvo's drive from the other machines in the range I have driven.

Some good choice in this weight range. Do keep us informed on spec comparisons, prices and availability as they come through (y)
The 8026 must have a big old lump in it, I’d assume only 3 cylinder? I mean it’s more reason for you to call it a 5tonner in 2ton clothing I guess 😉

Everyone reckons their machine is as good as one three tons above it, it’s just the way it is 🤣

I think in his defense he says that he makes it do jobs that would be better suited to a 5t because he can't move anything bigger ..... but hang on maybe something bigger is on it's way and he's going to tow it behind the JD and claim ag 🙂
My old kx71 had 4 pots last time I looked ....so is that right that JCB 6t has 3 pots 🤔

Damn the secret is out! I've become an Ag contractor to dodge the diesel and transport issues - its the way to go!

Yes, the 8026 and 60c both have Perkins 403J engines, the 60c has a turbo to double the power output. I've driven one and you honestly wouldn't know its running a 3 cylinder engine in terms of performance. Its fast, responsive and seemed to have plenty of power from my test drive. I wouldn't rule it out on the engine alone, and to be honest, I like JCB's thinking with this one trying to keep it simple and fit an engine that doesn't need a DPF or Adblue complications. My local hire place has a fleet of new Kubota KX60's and have had several break down due to DPF software issues....

Adblue is a requirement above a certain hp (74) output regardless and up to and including 8 ton avoid this. Tbh 8 tonners growing slowly heavier and trying to squeeze higher hyd output for attachments are probably being held back by staying under the 74hp limit. Its also why 6 ton upwards dumpers for about the last 8 years or so would struggle to pull the skin off a rice pudding.
I'll freely admit to planning to run my taki 240 for quite a few years yet to avoid new one with dpf. Having said that dpf's have been getting used for long enough now that i don't think they should be too big a worry. They don't however like idling and crap quality fuel which i think is where a lot of the bother comes from. Kubota from what I've heard maybe aren't the best dpf system but again if on a hire fleet how are they being used?
I feel as if the jcb 6 tonner could be slightly underpowered engine wise for someone buying it to use it to its limit but large portion of sales probably be hire fleets.

Ah but dpf and ad blue is only compulsory UpTo I think it's 700hp so there lies the answer. Go big or go home 💪

I haven’t had time to look into the new jcb 60 spec, but when I ordered my 57 there was 2 engine options, standard Perkins and a bigger output Kohler, I chose the Perkins as I knew the engine and to be frank it’s been faultless in all manors, I do wish I had more hydraulic flow - which maybe I’d of got with the larger engine? I’d be right in presuming I’d of got a bigger output pump if I’d of gone Kohler?
Other than body panel rust/paint flake I’d recommended the jcb midis no problem 👍🏼

Heres a quick take on the 3-6t size debate..... Look at the boom size.

The little Kobelco 2.2t I had was a utter animal, It'd swing 3t buckets, lift ton bags and generally was everything a 2.2t zts machine should'nt be....... But the boom was arguably shorter than a TB016.....

Most high hitting small machines have dinky booms.... as you go up tonnage they tend to have stupidly long booms for the weight class until about 6/7t.

There are exceptions.... Kubota's for instance also have historically had ridiculously wide spread U/C's which aid the power/capacity greatly.

Hence why I run two 1.5t's and two 7.5t's....... I would possibly bite at a 3 - 4t takeuchi (either Storrsys 125, or a 138FR that I know of) but realistically most things are better off either small or big.

I'm now waiting on prices on new

Kubota kx60
Jcb 60
Hitachi 65
Wacker neuson et65
Cat 306

But a bit like the u.k they seem totally uninterested in getting back to someone purchasing one machine.

Similar with Kinshofer who I have had to badger for prices , hopefully after a phone call Friday they should be with me soon.

In all honesty if while waiting on prices I could find a nice low houred KX57 esp a Hi spec to put a 4 pipe kinshofer straight on then that would meet my requirements - no rams to damage and no need for a top hitch in my application and a digger without dpf issues thats well proven and the paint stays put.
